As the ideal candidate for the SQL Database Developer position, you will have a deep understanding of data modeling and be well-versed in data normalization principles. You will create data models for new applications to meet both functional and performance needs. Your experience in data conversion projects will enable you to work with project teams.
You will optimize existing data models and assist development teams in understanding their data models. In addressing complex production issues involving queries that affect large data sets, you will validate and safeguard against data corruption while optimizing problem queries. You will develop or review highly tuned SQL scripts with developers and execute them effectively. Your thorough understanding of relational database architecture, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL Server, will be crucial in comprehending the intricate interactions with applications. You will maintain existing database schemas for security, speed, and data optimization, demonstrating your expertise in this area.
As an advocate for fundamental database schema best practices, you will share your knowledge with various teams, including developers, QA, and development architects. Your ability to promote these best practices across teams will contribute to the organization's success.
We are looking for a skilled SQL Developer with strong expertise in Oracle, PostgreSQL, RDS, and AWS. This role involves hands-on responsibilities in database query writing, debugging, performance tuning, and writing data conversion SQL scripts. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and optimizing complex SQL queries for Oracle, PostgreSQL databases, and Amazon RDS on AWS
- Conducting thorough debugging and performance tuning to ensure efficient database operations
- Writing and maintaining SQL scripts for data conversion, focusing on data integrity and accuracy
- Collaborating with development teams and stakeholders to understand database requirements and investigate production issues to create and integrate the solutions effectively
- Maintaining and optimizing databases for performance, security, and scalability across Oracle, PostgreSQL, and Amazon RDS environments
Our Typical Stacks:
- React/Java/J2EE/Spring/Hibernate, PostgreSQL, Oracle Database, MS SQL Server, Tomcat/WebLogic, Windows/Linux, and AWS (Amazon Web Services)
- Whatever technology provides the best solution for the project
- Degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent practical experience
- Advanced experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, along with Amazon RDS and AWS
- Expertise in SQL query writing, debugging, and performance tuning
- Proficiency in data modeling and data normalization
- Familiarity with Java/Spring Boot development and version control systems like Git
- Knowledge of database schema versioning tools, ORMs, and cloud-based data storage
- Agile methodology experience and adaptability to fast-paced development environment
- Ability to optimize existing data models working with other developers in a team
- Experience in addressing complex production issues involving large data sets, including data validation, corruption prevention, and query optimization
- Proficiency in developing, reviewing, and executing highly tuned SQL scripts in collaboration with developers

- Knowledge of working with healthcare-related data (EHRs (electronic health records), Lab Tests, Claims Data, etc.)
- Expert knowledge of database schema versioning tools such as Liquibase and ORMs such as Hibernate, JPA
- The ability to work with code outside of the database, specifically Java/Spring Boot development
Experience working with version control systems like Git, and an understanding of best practices for code management and collaboration - Knowledge of cloud-based data storage and computing platforms, such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure, and experience working with their data services
- Familiarity with agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, iterative development environment
- Ability and willingness to contribute to other functional solution domains, such as: requirement management, low code platform solution design and configuration, etc.
