SQL DB Engineer

As a SQL Database Engineer you will be responsible for triaging and optimizing application and platform related performance issues. The candidate will also be responsible for ensuring database systems and services are certified for operational readiness (desired state configuration, security, health, and performance). Candidate must be able to lead performance monitoring and tuning of assigned projects and communicate with other teams for identifying root cause of all database related issues. Proactively support ongoing maintenance, backup/ recovery, security, auditing, and production support. The candidate must be a subject matter expert on SQL and must able to lead applications and projects independently.

What You'll Be Doing

• Triaging and optimizing application and platform related performance issues.
• Leading performance monitoring and tuning of assigned projects and communicate with other teams for identifying root cause of all database related issues.
• Ensuring database systems and services are certified for operational readiness (desired state configuration, security, health and performance).
• Proactively support on-going maintenance, backup/recovery, security, auditing, and production support.
• Must be a subject matter expert on SQL and must able to lead applications and projects independently.
• This is a "hands-on" position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

This is a remote position with occasional travel (if needed).

Profile of Success

• Six years or more experience working with SQL DB, Azure SQL, MySQL (light) or SQL
• Experience working with stored procedures, SSIS, SSRS
• Experience with ADO and GIT
• Ability to conduct code reviews
• Experience tracking down and fixing performance issues
• Knowledge of best practices for SQL, what should be done and what should be avoided in industry-wide best practices
• Experience with query optimization plans and performance tune-ups
• Prior experience working with XQuery (SQL XML data)
