The Role

We are looking for a Squad Leader who will be leading the modernization effort for Fidelity Institutional's Wealthscape platform, which is a complex set of systems.

As the Wealthscape Modernization Squad Leader, within our Portal Enablement product area, you will blend experience building solutions on modern technologies and prioritization expertise with a passion for delivering results.

As the Product Owner, you are the end-to-end gatekeeper of the squad's mission, strategy, and tactical execution associated with delivering on strategic priorities. You develop solutions focused on making it easier for both end investors and investment professionals to obtain relevant information they will use to perform their role optimally and efficiently, enabling them to ultimately deliver an incredible service experience to their end customers.

You will partner with other Fidelity leaders to influence the broader strategic decisions, roadmaps, and resource requirements and bring together a team of technologists to deliver on specific modernization initiatives. You will ensure alignment on the "what" and "when" work is to be performed through ongoing planning and prioritization of a product backlog. You will enable squad members to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation and learn from failures while celebrating success.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Defining, refining, and communicating the squads' mission and roadmap to motivate and build support and alignment
  • Inspecting and evaluating progress, and removing impediments
  • Measuring performance against established objectives that deliver on agreed upon business & technology results
  • Collaborating and coordinating with Chapter Leaders and Scrum Masters to build squad capacity and capability and enabling squad member growth, development, and learning
  • Making informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between quality, cost, and timelines
  • Presenting roadmap and product details to clients to solicit feedback, ideas, and support

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred
  • 10+ years work experience designing, developing, and maintaining digital products within the financial services industry
  • Experience leading projects with new/emerging technology
  • Uses strong influencing and problem-solving skills to resolve contending product area/squad level strategic priorities
  • Knowledge and experience with large scale platform development initiatives
  • Financial services experience preferred
  • Agile experience, including the use of JIRA software
  • Proven experience taking a data-focused approach to understanding platform modernization needs, translate strategic objectives into action, and prioritize to improve value delivered
  • Proven ability to grasp sophisticated product features and can break them into clear and concise requirements with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria
  • Strong focus on execution and ability identifying, communicating, and removing impediments to progress
  • Proven experience leading, influencing, and motivating colleagues without formal authority, and have a track record of building successful teams
  • Strong ability establishing and maintaining unquestioning relationships as you work across Fidelity delivering business outcomes and seeking out the expertise of colleagues to advise on your approach
  • You are intellectually curious and model a culture of continuous learning, mentoring, and coaching

The Team

You work in partnership with the Portal Enablement Product Area Leader, other Squad Leaders as well as the Scrum Master and Chapter Leaders aligned to your squad. By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and Agile leadership behaviors, you sustain and evolve our innovative agile culture. Together with your Squad, you will be rebuilding Wealthscape platform's web capabilities to drive progress towards cloud migration, technology stack modernization and modern API consumption! You regularly influence and partner with other squads to identify the most valuable modernization opportunities, so your deliverables provide both modernization and business outcomes.
