Job Description

The Senior Accountant ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions. A successful Senior Accountant at Baker Hill has a mindset focused on compliance, accuracy and efficiency, is able to consistently apply policies and procedures, and enjoys learning and collaborating with others. A successful candidate must also have the ability to multi-task a variety of high priority tasks while adhering to deadlines.

Essential Functions

  • Customer contract review and entry; billing; and billing system administration.
  • Manages month end revenue recognition to ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Perform monthly revenue analysis and reporting to management.
  • Actively participate in month-end close process by preparing and analyzing monthly journal entries and reporting documents and complete other activities required to ensure complete and accurate financial results.
  • Compile and analyze financial information for various financial and operational business activities; respond to inquiries with accurate and timely work product.
  • Analyze and reconcile accounting records to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards defined within the department. Investigate and resolve issues noted.
  • Develop, analyze and modify specific accounting processes and procedures to ensure continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and strengthen internal controls.
  • Work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Assist with internal and external audits and responses as needed.
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.
  • Cross-training and back-up to other accounting and finance functions.
  • Requirements
  • 3+ years progressive relevant experience in accounting and/or finance
  • Bachelor's Degree with a major or minor in Accounting
  • CPA designation, or seeking to work towards achieving CPA designation, is a plus
  • Demonstrated work experience - managing accounting activities, variance analysis, accounts payable, general ledger, familiarity/aptitude with ERP and CRM systems.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles / US GAAP
  • Sound problem solver who can quickly process complex information and present it clearly and simply
  • Strong ownership mentality; self-motivated in finding answers and proposing solutions and maintain a high level of accuracy and credibility in your work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to convey various forms of information to a broad audience
  • Flexibility and agility to shift priorities and contribute to individual, team and company priorities
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including pivot tables, advanced formulas, etc.
