Sr Actuarial Analyst - Supplemental
Job Description
Reporting directly to the Actuarial Manager, the Senior Actuarial Analyst will analyze statistical data for rate studies and rate adequacy, assist in conducting insurance rate filings, and perform valuation of monthly reserve totals to ensure payment of future benefits. Under the supervision of the Actuarial Manager, the Senior Actuarial Analyst will prepare actuarial and financial analysis relating to the Supplemental lines of business utilizing established procedures. The position may also assist with monthly financial results reporting, developing premium rates, product development, documentation of actuarial procedures and practices, and prepare annual rate certification reports. The Senior Actuarial Analyst will also continue to make progress towards attaining the Associate in the Society of Actuaries designation.
Essential Functions
- Edit and optimize computer programs in Access, Excel, and Visual Basic, etc. as necessary for calculating reserves and premium rates
- Run, modify, and update existing programs such as pricing models, reserve factor development models, loss ratio studies, lapse rate studies, and company projections
- Assist in rate reviews, complete rate filings and annual rate certifications for state insurance departments
- Actively participate in reserve factor development and implementation
- Engage in communications with external actuarial consultants as needed
- Assist with the development, assumption setting, and pricing of new products
- Assist in developing actuarial memoranda for new product filings
- Work independently, with supervision, on various projects such as actuarial valuations
- Other actuarial duties as assigned

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Computer Science preferred
- At least 2 actuarial exams passed
- At least three years of relevant actuarial experience preferred
- Health insurance experience preferred
- Strong mathematical reasoning
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Highly organized
- Strong written and oral communication skills and reading comprehension skills
- Ability to be flexible, multitask, and shift priorities while meeting deadlines
- Work both independently and within a team environment
- Proficiency in the operations of PC-based systems, including Microsoft Office software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
