Sr Analyst, Technology Engineer (Middleware Solutions)

This position will be with the Support and Services team within Middleware technologies. The team is responsible for 24/7 support and request management of Middleware technologies such as IBM WebSphere, HTTP servers, and messaging services. The position requires understanding of IT infrastructure and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems. The ideal candidate will have a background in hosting web applications including expertise in the underlying infrastructure components; experience in hosting applications in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure highly preferred.

You're also accountable for the operational aspects and management for the above products in accordance with the business requirements and defined service level agreements (SLAs).

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager: Technology Engineering Manager/Technology Product Manager.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems or a related field is preferred.
License/Certification/Designation: Technology certifications or designation are not required, but encouraged (i.e.: AWS, Azure, scripting and development languages, delivery methods, security.
Experience: One or more years of experience developing and implementing integrated solutions. Experience in testing and debugging integrated solutions. Understanding of system management processes and tools. Understanding of concepts: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and package solutions.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Strong communication skills, knowledge of planning, management and execution of Accelerated Solutions Deliver framework, Information Security acumen. Influencing, negotiating and priority setting is needed. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the Vice President and HR Business Partner.

- Proficient with installation and configuration of web hosting components such as Tomcat, IBM WebSphere and various HTTP servers
- Proficient with installation and configuration of messaging components such as IBM MQ or ActiveMQ
- Ansible/AWX scripting
- Experience with hosting applications within AWS or Azure highly preferred
- Experience working within Agile teams

- Executes all aspects of capacity: drives requirements to meet current and future needs, tracks and reports capacity postures.
- Analyzes reports and delivery recommendations to remediate capacity issues.
- Implements capacity enhancements.
- Participates in technology/product optimization, migrations and management, including technology/product design, planning, power and environmental management.
- Continuously improves and enhances existing environments.
- Maintains proper hardware and software currency levels by working on recommended upgrades.
- Conducts proactive system maintenance, disaster recovery planning, data backup and recovery as well as inventory, configuration and utility product management.
- Executes on production engineering processes, incident management, root cause analysis, problem management, change management, release management and knowledge management.
- Supports operational efforts to maintain environments.
- Provides production support for all technology platforms.
- Assists with disaster and business recovery planning and testing.
- Provides oversight for technical labs and development environments.
