Senior Application Developer

As a member of the Digital Solutions and Services team, you will be responsible for maintenance of vendor and in-house written applications, including project level and small enhancement analysis and development, production support activities, and on-call responsibilities. You will also be requested to provide technical guidance and direction, best practices in the design, development, deployment, and documentation of complex distributed changes. Understanding of SDLC procedures and adherence to change management rules is a requirement.

Desired skills for this position include Java, Informatica, Cobol and SSRS/MRS report development. This varied skillset is currently being cross trained to allow for optimal deployment of resources as priority would dictate. This area supports a variety of systems with primary focus on agent commission applications and surrounding integrations.

What you will do:

• Develop new applications as per specifications, unit test completed applications, and develop required documentation as defined by company development standards.

• Maintain strict adherence to standards for documentation, development techniques, testing, and other related development activity.
• Stay current on system development techniques and languages that are being used for system development and apply those techniques during development efforts.
• Develop problem solving techniques to assist other development staff personnel in the research and solving of program problems.

What it takes to join our team:

• College degree or equivalent plus 2-5 years relevant experience required. Ideally, you will have 3 years of experience in insurance or finance data processing.
• Knowledge of data handling methods, development techniques and one or more development programming languages required. Java, SSRS, Informatica, and Cobol are a definite plus.
• You must be able to be professional in all interactions, with strong communication skills.
• Experience working in SCRUM and an agile work environment is a plus.
