Sr Architect

The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.

We are seeking a Sr Architect to help us design, plan, and carry out our construction projects in cities across the world!

Responsibilities

• Apply a first principles approach to design production: simplify requirements, delete unnecessary process steps, optimize, accelerate production, and automate.
• Lead project teams in the production of quality documents for all project phases. 
• High proficiency in Revit
• Organize and direct architectural/engineering teams to execute work efficiently. 
• Ensure projects meet client agreements, budgets, goals, and work assignments.
• Maintain positive client relationships, regularly updating them on project progress.
• Professionally communicate assignments to staff, consultants, and vendors.
• Provide leadership and technical advice for construction documents.
• Make sound, timely decisions, involving appropriate people in the process.
• Mentor junior staff and oversee their assignments.
• Participate in and occasionally present at training sessions.
• Perform construction administration duties and ensure adherence to design intent, working quickly with stakeholders to resolve issues. On-site construction visits required.
• Implement QC measures and ensure deliverables comply with requirements.
• Create project schedules and assist with staffing and workload projections.
• Occasional travel required.

Basic Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture.
• 7+ years of professional design experience on commercial projects.
• 2+ years using Revit in a professional office.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D, including the ability to develop detailing, Revit schedules, families, and shared parameters.

Preferred Qualifications

• Texas licensed Architect or eligible for license reciprocity.
• Experience in BIM/VDC asset development and management
• Scripting experience with visual programming automation tools (Dynamo and Grasshopper).
• Proficiency in visualization tools such as Lumion, Enscape, V-ray, Keyshot, Unreal, or Twinmotion.
