We are looking for a Sr Associate Scientist to support our molecular and cell biology needs to enable the drug discovery efforts within the mRNA Programming team at Strand Therapeutics. The candidate will be expected to work in an innovative, fast-paced, cross-collaborative biotech environment and contribute in multi-disciplinary team activities to advance our platform.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Designing and executing molecular cloning projects, including bacterial transformation and plasmid isolation.
- Testing synthetic genetic constructs with novel and optimized functions in mammalian cells using assays including flow cytometry, ELISA, and qPCR.
- Organization and execution of projects involving screening hundreds to thousands of constructs or using laboratory evolution for sequence optimization.
- Analyze and summarize study results, providing updates at team meetings, maintaining clear and complete records.
- Working across diverse areas to support the group's research activities in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Qualifications:
- B.S. with at least 4-5+ years of relevant experience or M.S. with at least 2-3+ years of relevant experience in molecular biology, bioengineering and/or vector design.
- Experience with molecular cloning including bacterial transformation and plasmid isolation required.
- Prior experience in molecular and cellular assays such as qPCR, flow cytometry, and ELISA.
- Experience testing synthetic genetic constructs is a plus.
- Strong collaboration and inter-personal skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet important deadlines.
