Job Purpose
The Senior Director, Engineering is a critical leadership role responsible for directing a team of highly skilled Network Engineers. The position also oversees a team of Sales Engineers responsible for sales support of complex technology proposals. The Network Engineers deliver SageNet's customers base design, network refinement, performance assurance, technical support, and consulting services. The team utilizes a variety of automation and technical tooling to continually improve both efficiency and efficacy of SageNet's processes and network technologies. A commitment to continuous operational improvement is a key aspect of the role. Through exercising well defined leadership and administrative skills the SDE will ensure the team delivers reliability, performance, and integrity of critical infrastructure supporting our customer's business operations. This person will direct and develop strategies and standards for all platform infrastructures and ensure compliance with industry standards. In addition, this role shall exercise sound business practices including building positive and collaborative working relationships with peers in operations as well as boundary partners across the organization. The role requires refined communication skills, the ability to discern and address complex internal and external relationships and exercising sound judgement when managing these relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead teams of design and operational engineers to design, manage, deploy, secure, and support large client networks across multiple technologies and architectures
- Oversees a team Sales Engineers as they support sales in pursuit of new business and renewals
- Responsible for the empowerment, growth, development, and success of Network Engineers across multiple Engineering Teams
- Develop, groom, and maintain relationships within other departments, especially Operations, Sales and Product Management
- Coordinate mentorship within Network Engineering for associate development and future career placement
- Manage all technical certification programs to ensure compliance and maintain good standing with channel partners
- Determine training needs to determine the best path for growth while developing a strategy to grow competency within the SageNet Engineering group
- Motivate and support staff to accomplish important objectives across multiple assignments
- Maintains an appropriate sense of urgency on mission critical tasks
- Hold the Network Engineering team accountable for their deliverables and ensure that projects, tasks, and incidents are delivered by agreed timelines
- Develop systems and tools for effective task execution and operations management - Produce standard reporting for internal resources and customers, providing performance metrics to executive team
- Implement, manage, and evaluate Network Engineering operation processes and procedures, in alignment with the vision set out by the organization
- Perform administrative and management functions as needed to ensure the team is performing at acceptable standards
- Develop and maintain Quality Assurance standards for all implementations/projects
- Manage and maintain customer architecture standards
- Ensures other teams (Service Delivery, Network Operations Center (NOC), Config-Line, logistics, etc.) have the needed materials, documentation, and training to support new and existing clients
- Liaise with vendors and other internal groups for problem resolution
- Serve as an escalation point for internal and external resources for high priority issues
- Perform hands-on technical work on escalated Network Engineering matters; refer major hardware and/or software issues to vendors or department Management for resolution
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools in a managed service provider organization
- 10+ years of networking experience in environments supporting multiple vendors and networking products
- 8+ years management experience of local and remote staff - recent experience in a hybrid work environment is preferred
- Sales operations management experience strongly preferred
- Proven ability to work under pressure and interface with senior management, peers, and boundary partners
- Well versed with Network Engineering and Architecture including next generation firewalls, routers, switches, wireless devices, and network management systems
- CCNP certification or equivalent experience required; CCIE certification preferred
- Fortinet, Cisco/Meraki and Palo Alto experience preferred
- Versed in ITIL Methodology; ITIL Certification a plus
Working Conditions
- Work productively in a corporate office space, remotely, or while travelling
- Business casual in office, and business professional in front of customers
- Ability to answer emails, text messages, and phone calls outside of normal business hours regularly
- Requires some night, weekend, and overnight support for issues escalated to this person
Physical Requirements
- Be able to sit for long periods of time in meetings without issue
- Be able to stand for long periods of time while giving presentations
- Extensive use of hands and fingers for typing, handling baggage, and paperwork
- Extensive use of eyes for reviewing contracts and data on a computer screen
