OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

Euromonitor's Channels practice area is developing a new solution to measure online retail sales. To support the successful delivery of this new market intelligence solution, we are recruiting for a new Analyst or Senior Analyst for E-commerce in the Americas. This new position will report to the Channels Project Manager for E-commerce.

The E-commerce Analyst will be responsible for implementing new data sources and methods, ensuring that published data are consistently of the highest possible quality and updated according to schedule. They will also produce written analysis and engage with clients to clearly demonstrate business applications and insights for this data. Finally, they will support the Channels Project Manager to drive continued evolution of the product to better meet our clients' needs.

To achieve this, the E-commerce Analyst will work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including Data Science, Data Analysts, Market Research Analysts, Euromonitor's New Product team, and third-party data providers. The successful applicant must demonstrate strong collaboration skills, with a proven track record for working effectively, constructively and positively across multiple teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The E-commerce Analyst's responsibilities will fall into four principal areas
  • Building e-commerce data for subscription products and custom deliverables (40%)
  • Executing data checks and quality control for e-commerce data (35%)
  • Content delivery and client engagement (15%)
  • Product evolution (10%)


  • 1. Building e-commerce data for subscription products and custom deliverables (40% of time)

    The E-Commerce Analyst - Americas will directly support the creation and delivery of e-commerce sales data for North and Latin America. They will work within the methodological framework set for E-commerce to transform all data inputs into a coherent, commercially compelling data set.
    • Work closely with contributing teams across the business and external partners to ensure we deliver and publish data to deadline.
    • Continuously monitor and ensure raw data inputs remain automatically mapped to Euromonitor categories and brand/brand owner names for publication.
    • Review and test data from internal and external sources to ensure relevance and robustness.
    • Identify new sources to improve existing e-commerce data or create new data sets.
    • Conduct primary and secondary research to inform monthly, quarterly or annual online sales estimates.


    2. Executing data checks and quality control for E-commerce data (35% of time)

    The E-commerce Analyst will carry out data checks for Americas markets to ensure overall quality control, informing the Channels Project Manager when data is ready for publication.
    • Perform secondary/desk research to collect and review information in the public domain (eg, company financials/presentations) to validate or improve our online sales estimates.
    • Engage with clients to review, validate and reconcile our online sales estimates against a client's own data.
    • Run quality control checks to identify irregularities or issues in the data, eg excessive spikes or drops over time that appear abnormal or unexplainable.

    Document and relay findings from quality control checks, public domain data and/or client data back to the Channels Project Manager for E-commerce and other relevant teams to improve our own published estimates.

    3. Content delivery and client engagement (15% of time)

    The E-commerce Analyst - Americas will create actionable insights for consumption in both published and presentation formats. This includes producing written content for publication on Euromonitor platforms, as well as delivering presentations to clients.
    • Produce templatized report analysis, such as global briefings, regional briefings, company/retailer profiles or country reports.
    • Produce content for publication on the Euromonitor.com blog.
    • Produce and deliver at least 1 webinar per year showcasing our e-commerce insights.
    • Support in developing and maintaining client-facing materials, including methodology overviews, FAQs, and other supporting documentation.
    • Respond to client queries in a timely manner which meets or exceeds client expectations.
    • Present Euromonitor's e-commerce insights at conferences and respond to media requests/enquiries.
    • Support Consulting teams with custom deliverables that leverage Euromonitor's new and expanded e-commerce data set. Assist in fulfilling client needs through the entire custom research lifecycle, from discovery through to delivery.

    4.Product evolution (10% of time)

    The product will evolve over time and our data is at the core of that evolution. Working with the Channels Practice leadership, the E-commerce Analyst will help shape the evolution of the sources and methodology used, as well as the published datasets themselves.
    • Evolve and expand the offer to suit changing inputs, methods, and industry demand.
    • Gather feedback from clients and internal experts to further develop the data offer.
    • Identify new sources and methodologies and new external partners.
    • Propose new solutions that leverage data sources in new ways to meet client needs and use cases.


    Requirements

    • A very data-savvy mindset, with advanced MS Excel skills and ideally experience of SQL, Tableau and/or Power BI

    • Proven ability to build consensus and work across teams
    • Excellent analysis skills, with strong command of both written and spoken insights

    • Knowledge of e-commerce and related metrics (POS/EPOS, AOV, conversion, traffic metrics) and data sources (clickstream, web scraping, e-receipts)
    • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate client needs into robust and transparently sourced data and insights
    • A clear communication style with the ability to translate complex concepts to non-experts
    • Direct e-commerce experience, for example in the role of a seller or merchant, an advantage
