This role's ideal candidate will have a variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
- Proficiency in REST APIs, Java, and Ruby
- Experience using testing frameworks (JUnit)
- Familiarity with version control (Git)
- Knowledge of web-based security
- Ability to perform in-depth log analysis and troubleshooting
- Basic knowledge in database administration/SQL querying
- Knowledge of agile practices
- Self-motivation with ability to be flexible
- Willingness to pair and collaborate with team members
- Confidence in providing leadership
Any of the following are a plus and can be taught:
- Knowledge of PolicyCenter/Guidewire
- Experience with Microservices
- Experience with Apigee
- Experience with CI/CD Pipelines, Concourse
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and AWS
- Working knowledge of log analysis and monitoring platforms like New Relic and Splunk
- Familiarity with Wiremock

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and best practices.Â
Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.Â
Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.Â
Manages project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.Â
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.Â
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.Â
Experience: Two or more years of analysis and technology experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle moderately sophisticated business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.Â
