Job Description

Rockwell is looking for a Sr Software Test Quality Engineer to join an agile team building services that provide our customers the ability to setup, configure, maintain, and deploy security configurations within their facilities. We are looking for someone who has the drive and the initiative to jump into the product to develop product specific expertise, is experienced in design and execution of Test Plans, is attentive to details, has excellent written and oral communication skills, has worked in an Agile process and is customer focused. Experience in the industrial sector is a huge plus.

The Senior Software Test Quality Engineer is responsible for upholding the Quality bar for the FactoryTalk System Services software. The ideal candidate is responsible to work closely with the Product Owner and Engineers to gather requirements for test design, execute test plans, perform manual and automated testing of existing and new features. Responsibilities include verifying and reproducing customer reported issues, creating, and updating test for new and existing features and identifying anomalies during the development lifecycle. The candidate will use tools such as JIRA, QTest, and Excel to create dashboards for quality metrics. The scope of work is generally focused on complex test engineering tasks to ensure quality software and hardware products are developed.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate and contribute to the full lifecycle of software development from planning to release
  • Participate in Agile Scrum and Stand-ups, lead test design, plan, and execution at triage sessions
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to gather requirements for test design
  • Continuously produce, review, and enhance test documentation
  • Lead release testing activities
  • Learn current and new functionality of the product with a goal to improve product quality
  • Report anomalies with precise title, description, and steps for anomaly reproduction for developers
  • Ownership of end-to-end feature testing, test strategies, and anomaly backlog
  • Actively contribute to release timelines with testing estimation, prioritization, and anomaly tracking
  • Follow Rockwell Automation's SDLC processes
  • Maintain thorough documentation for existing and new quality procedures
  • Collaborate with geographically distributed teams
  • Able to work closely with product manager and developers
  • Contribute to and promote good software quality engineering practices across the team
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system problems and customer issues

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in test plan design and execution
  • Experience developing software and automated tests and tools in Python and C#
  • Hands-on experience with common tools for test automation
  • Experience in performance testing (load, stress, reliability, and longevity)
  • Experience using tools like JIRA, Confluence, QTest, and Jenkins
  • Experience testing products that interface with the ControlLogix platform or other industrial control systems
  • Experience with troubleshooting industrial communications (such as CIP and Ethernet/IP)
  • Experience managing source code using GIT
  • Knowledge of release and regression testing methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate tasks with remote development teams
  • Well versed in Agile practices
  • Passion for testing with the "break it" mentality
  • Experience with managing, booting up and decommissioning virtual machines and their snapshots in private or public (Azure) cloud
