DESCRIPTION:

Resideo is currently seeking a Sr. Engineering Director to lead our engineering organization that supports our $700M+ Residential Thermal Solutions (RTS)/Combustion business. The successful candidate will report to the Sr VP of Engineering and Product Management and will interact frequently with the senior management team of Resideo including the VP of Product Management and the President of Products and Solutions. The candidate will have resources located across 5 design sites in North America, Europe, and Asia. The candidate should have prior organizational leadership experience, be able to collaborate with team members and be a strategic problem solver.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Lead the global RTS engineering team to deliver market leading offerings generating significant growth for the business. The offerings will meet the application, cost and quality requirements of Retail, OEM and Trade customers and can span hardware, software and business models.
  • Align with the other Engineering leaders to ensure that technical platforms are shared where appropriate and the products in all businesses deliver a clear product family solution for the customer.
  • Drive an innovation culture that encourages the team to deliver technology roadmaps and solutions. Continuously review and update the short and long term technology strategy to support the business's profitability and growth.
  • Motivate and empower the engineering teams to deliver on all project and business goals. Take strategic decisions that continuously improves the team structure and ability to deliver. Utilize internal and external resources to ensure the correct skills and resources are available to the teams. Ensure that global teams are highly organized and have the tools to work seamlessly across time zones.
  • Partner with key functions, such as Product Management, Sourcing and Manufacturing, to deliver profitable offerings to the market.
  • Partner and manage external design resources as needed.
  • Understand all the costs associated with product development.
  • Participate in annual budget, operating plan and strategic plan development.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical discipline
  • 10+ years of industry experience
  • Significant leadership experience in an international, multi-site and multicultural business environment
  • Technical skills and experience on mechatronic control systems, mechanic actuators, electronic hardware and firmware design.
  • Good knowledge of Thermodynamic Physics and of heating cooling appliances, such as Water Heaters, Gas Boilers, Heat Pump, Air Conditioner system
  • Good knowledge of total quality design and management approach (preferred Six Sigma (Green Belt) or Toyota Total Quality Management (TQM) certification)

WE VALUE:

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Advanced Engineering Degree
  • English speaking with one or more European language of German, French, or Italian
  • Extensive design engineering experience with communicating and connected products
  • Product development expertise from concept to product launch; familiarity with a phased NPI (new product introduction) process
  • Familiarity with hardware design, firmware platforming, app and cloud integration
  • Experience on Fail safe system design
  • Excellent project management skills - PMP certification will be a preference
  • Ability to consistently make timely decisions and balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness, even in the face of complexity
  • Ability to make difficult trade-offs and intelligent risk taking.
  • Market focused mindset and ability to anticipate changes in customer's needs
  • Strategic thinking and effective management on complex projects
  • Excellent communications skills, able to convey complex information clearly, as appropriate for the topic and audience
  • Demonstrated cross-functional interaction with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Quality, Finance and Operations
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and drive change
  • Strong capability to adapt and drive new culture through Change Management
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
