What is Your Purpose:

  • This is a high-profile, high visibility leadership role.
  • You will ensure projects and people adhere to the Domain Design governance standards and practices.
  • You will manageand expand the Design Governance process.
  • You contribute to communication and expansion of the Claims Domain Strategy & Vision.
  • You will be the change agent and assist with moving the Domain forward to being modern and data driven.
  • You will coordinate and mentor staff across the Domain.
  • You will lead technical design review sessions with staff and providing guidance and feedback.
  • You will conduct demo's and document artifacts that help deliver the business goals as well as the technical components and can include pseudocode examples.
  • You will ensure quality and consistency of the system architecture frameworks across the entire Domain. (Core Diamond, Pricing, Claims Adjudication, Benefits, Accumulators, Authorizations, Other party liability & Payment Integrity internally built web applications. Duties can include defining application framework architectures, system migrations, complex production issue problem solving, recommending courses of action to ensure technology is consistent, reusable, scalable, secure, adds value to the business and aligns with the Vision and Strategy. Serves the company as an advisor on best practices and stays current on business initiatives and objectives.
  • You will research and evaluate new technology and development tools to remain abreast of current and emerging technology.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Serves as application architecture subject matter expert to business areas, project teams and vendors to apply and execute appropriate use of technology solutions and lead efforts to examine technology vision, opportunities and challenges. Builds consensus around principles of application architecture and interprets and clarifies these principles.
  • Evaluates strengths and flaws in application architecture designs including performance, quality, and availability, simplicity of design, security and total cost of ownership. Define reusable components and patterns.
  • Participates in the evaluation, selection and implementation of technology solutions including providing detailed analysis of pros and cons and build vs buy options. Promotes implementation of new technology, solutions and methods to improve business processes, efficiency, effectiveness and value delivered to customers. Maintains operational, architectural and design documentation including procedures, task lists, and business area architecture blueprints.
  • Benchmarks technology strategies and architectures. Monitors and anticipates trends and investigates organizational objectives and needs. Provides guidance on integration solutions and prepares benchmarking reports and presentations. Establishes and maintains vendor relationships to review and evaluate designs and controls and influence changes in future product releases.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with IT and business area partners to evaluate designs and controls communicating business value and ROI of architecture. Mentors and provides technical oversight of work of less experienced Architects.

What is Preferred?

  • Experience with multiple development frameworks
  • Experience with Spring Boot, Java, OpenShift, Git, DataPower
  • Experience within the Healthcare Claims Domain - pricing, benefits adjudication, accumulators, authorizations, other party liability., payment integrity.
  • Experience working with FEP, ITS BlueCross Blue Association software, CMS - Medicare
  • Experience with GWOS
  • Experience leading development teams
  • Experience within the HealthCare Domain processing Medical Claims

What is Required?

  • Related Bachelor's degree or additional related equivalent work experience IT related field or equivalent work experience
  • 6+ years related work experience in IT development/programming/coding or equivalent combination of transferrable experience and education
  • 2 or more years of work experience as an Application Architect working on progressively complex IT projects
  • Demonstrated proficiencies in emerging technologies
  • Proficient in multiple programming languages
  • Proficiency using debugging tools and versioning tools
  • Lifelong learner and practitioner of new technologies in alignment with IT strategies
  • Experience and understanding with unit testing, release procedures, coding, design and documentation protocol as well as change management procedures
  • Practitioner of Project Management Methodologies (e.g. waterfall, iterative, agile discipline)
  • Knowledge in Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Delivery (CD) software engineering practices
  • Knowledge in defining extensible architectures that can be built by project team incrementally
  • Proficiency in creating architecture, green-field and redesign, and communicate the same to project team
  • Proficiency in aligning and rationalizing business applications to simplify the IT portfolio and reduce costs
  • Exceptional leadership skills demonstrated through projects/programs.

General Physical Demands:

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Jobs are sedentary if traversing activities are required only occasionally.
