Leading the future in luxury electric and mobility
At Lucid, we set out to introduce the most captivating, luxury electric vehicles that elevate the human experience and transcend the perceived limitations of space, performance, and intelligence. Vehicles that are intuitive, liberating, and designed for the future of mobility.

We plan to lead in this new era of luxury electric by returning to the fundamentals of great design – where every decision we make is in service of the individual and environment. Because when you are no longer bound by convention, you are free to define your own experience.

Come work alongside some of the most accomplished minds in the industry. Beyond providing competitive salaries, we’re providing a community for innovators who want to make an immediate and significant impact. If you are driven to create a better, more sustainable future, then this is the right place for you.

Data generated by electric vehicles is rich and diverse, creating significant opportunities to design, develop, and deploy AI and machine learning solutions that drive innovation aligned with Lucid’s industry leadership and brand expectations. Lucid’s AI and ML organization is seeking a Sr. Manager, AI/ML & Software Development to lead teams delivering scalable, secure, and production-ready AI software systems across product, enterprise, and platform use cases.

This role focuses on people leadership, execution excellence, and cross-functional delivery, with responsibility for guiding AI/ML software engineering teams through the full lifecycle from design to production deployment.

How We Work:

We balance hard work and innovation through meaningful, in-office calibration. This role is based out of Newark, CA, with select remote work options.

You Will:

  • Lead and manage teams responsible for AI/ML software development, including backend services, ML-enabled applications, and supporting infrastructure
    • Own delivery execution for AI/ML software initiatives, ensuring projects meet quality, security, scalability, and timeline expectations
    • Report to the CAIO and be a leader within the AI organization to enable product leaders, data science, platform, cloud, and infrastructure teams to align technical execution with business priorities
    • Translate strategic AI initiatives into well-scoped engineering plans, roadmaps, and deliverables
    • Establish and track KPIs for software and AI/ML delivery effectiveness, reliability, and business impact
    • Drive best practices in software engineering, ML system design, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and operational readiness
    • Support deployment and operation of AI/ML systems across cloud and on-prem environments
    • Ensure adherence to secure development practices, compliance requirements, and governance standards
    • Coach, mentor, and grow engineers and technical leads, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at multiple levels, escalating risks and aligning expectations proactively

You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field
    • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML systems, or related technical domains
    • 3+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams
    • Strong background in Python-based software development and modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch and Hugging Face
    • Hands-on experience delivering production AI/ML systems, including generative AI, LLM-enabled applications, and data-driven services
    • Demonstrated ability to balance technical depth with people management and execution leadership
    • Experience operating in Agile environments, including planning, backlog management, and KPI tracking
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders
    • Proven ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and influence without authority

Advantageous:

  • Experience in automotive, EV technology, manufacturing systems, or connected device ecosystems
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
    • Exposure to MLOps, data pipelines, or AI platform enablement initiatives
