Business Unit Finance
The Business Unit Finance Sr Manager provides support to the OCFO organization by reviewing and analyzing the financial results of the P&BD organization. Through business analysis, financial record-keeping, modeling and forecasting, this job helps drive the strategic direction of the business unit. Under minimal supervision, this job also provides financial insights that senior management of the business unit uses to inform business and financial decisions.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Reviews monthly financial results to identify drivers, explain key variances and inform business unit recommendations to senior management.
- Develops and maintains complex models to evaluate financial impact and economics of large transformational strategic initiatives.
- Reviews relevant financial data, using various tools, techniques, and technologies to manage and interpret different and varying volumes of information; synthesizes pertinent information to improve and enhance business outcomes.
- Monitors forecasts and modeling to ensure results are timely and accurate.
- Leads re-forecasting activities and updating/evolving forecast models.
- Monitors general ledger journal entry postings during the closing process to help ensure that financial statements are accurate.
- Examines ad hoc business unit reports that analyze business unit financial results versus budget/forecasts.
- Ensures the business unit's operations are in alignment with the organization's strategic goals and vision.
- Reviews and modifies financial reports and presentations for management that inform business and financial decisions.
- Provides guidance to junior Financial Planning & Analysis team members regarding challenges that require more advanced knowledge and experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years' experience in financial services, retirement, or insurance industries with experience in financial planning & analysis, and business support
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7 years' experience in financial services, retirement, or insurance industries with experience in financial planning & analysis, and business support
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science, or Mathematics
- Master's degree preferred
- Successful completion of 2-4 SOA examinations
- Expert proficiency in financial modeling
- Experience visualizing solutions and using critical thinking and systems design thinking to solve complex problems
- Experience with executive presentation preparation, and previous exposure to senior leaders
- Demonstrates a drive for curiosity and continuous improvement mindset by exploring, investigating, and applying learnings to enhance effectiveness and quality
- Experience using Smart View and Essbase, Tableau, and think-cell
- Expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with Oracle Planning System
- Knowledge of TIAA's products/services

Base Pay Range: $91,500/yr. - $152,500/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
