Position Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Sales Application Engineering team at eHealth. This role will help design and build the company’s next-generation Sales application experience. The Sales application team delivers consistent, high quality and intuitive experience to our benefit advisors. This team develops services and components that helps benefit advisors serve our omni channel customers by delivering systems such as Quoting system, Lead segmentation, Self service Sales scripts, integration with 3rd party technologies such as Marketo, Twillo, Bloom etc. This team is also responsible for delivering CRM functions such as Lead management, agent management, work queue management etc.

You have proven industry experience in software design and development. You are a solution-centric, results-oriented, and experienced Engineering leader. You will lead other engineers, architects and cross functional teams in a collaborative environment to improve the overall quality while achieving timely delivery of projects and in a manner that champions eHealth’s culture. You have in-depth technical background and proven industry experience in software architecture, design, development and testing. You are ambitious, talented, and driven to make the team and project successful.
Responsibilities
- Being a hands on manager, you will be responsible for both technical(60) and management (40) duties
- Maintain a value oriented and business driven approach to project prioritization and resourcing
- Collaborate effectively across teams and key stakeholders including Product Management, Product UX Design, Infrastructure, Business, other engineering teams
- Provide technical direction to software engineers, ensuring timely, quality design and implementation of applications, business logic
- Work with Application security and security compliance team to ensure application adheres to standards such as HIPAA
- Document architecture using technical design documents
- Enable and facilitate problem diagnosis and resolution in technical and functional areas
- Encourage change, particularly on the side of engineering best practices, developer experience, and process improvements
- Advance shift left for quality practices with activities such as unit testing
- Establish and maintain effective communications and working relationships with cross-functional teams
- Review the work of other engineers in a collegial fashion to promote growth, and to improve quality and engineering practices
- People responsibilities - conduct 1:1 meetings, providing feedback, promoting personal development, establishing goals, and plan for career growth
- Support production issues and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years leading engineering teams
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Experience in leading consumer facing engineering teams
- Experience using frontend technologies such as VueJS, ReactJS
- Experience in full stack development using Java ecosystem and microservices architecture
- Experience with database technologies and persistence layer using Oracle and PostgreSQL
- Experience leading multiple projects concurrently
- Past experience as a lead engineer working in a scrum team
- Technical skills: Java programming, algorithmic thinking, data structures, Restful API, system architecture, JavaScript/TypeScript, component based UI frameworks such as ReactJS, VueJS
- Basic understanding of AWS or other cloud infrastructures
- BS/MS in Computer Science or related field

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with 3rd party integrations such as Lead gen systems, IP based Telephonic systems etc.
- Experience using GraphQL
- Experience with eCommerce business domain
- Experience of working with cross-functional team such as - marketing, partners, SEO, security etc.
- Experience with AWS cloud architecture and Postgres DB on AWS
- Experience with Spring Boot on AWS cloud and ExpressJS
- CRM industry experience will be a bonus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
This role is 100% remote, person must be based in the US and available to work standard Pacific Time business hours

The base pay range reflects the anticipated pay range for this position. The actual base pay offered will depend on various factors including individual skills, experience, performance, qualifications, the department budget, and the location where work is performed. Base pay is one component of eHealth’s total rewards package, which also includes an annual performance bonus, plus an array of benefits designed to support employees’ personal and professional wellness.
