This position will be primarily focused on performing and delivering external financial reporting and technical accounting activities of Papa John's International, Inc., a public restaurant company with over 5,000 global units. In addition to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close procedures, this position will also be responsible for researching complex accounting issues to ensure accurate accounting presentation and disclosure in publicly-filed financial reporting document, writing technical accounting memos and policies and performing contract reviews.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Perform and/or review certain technical accounting month-end and quarterly-end procedures
  • Assist in development of proper presentation and disclosures of complex accounting issues in Papa John's publicly-filed financial reporting documents
  • Assist in preparation of Forms 10-Q, 10-K, other SEC filings, and the Company's annual report
  • Interact with the Company's external auditors, including assisting in the execution of the annual external audit
  • Author accounting policies and lead the creation of standardized accounting policies and procedures
  • Perform and enhance contract review process for accounting and finance considerations
  • Interact with the Company's external auditors, including assisting in the execution of the annual external audit
  • Research complex accounting issues to ensure proper accounting treatment and compose position papers for use by finance/accounting management and external auditors
  • Communicate effectively across the various finance teams in regard to accounting policies and processes
  • Prepare other ad hoc accounting, financial, and investor relations analyses as requested

DESIRED FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

  • Significant GAAP working knowledge; experience with SEC reporting and SOX
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to present to senior management, external auditors and/or Board of Directors

  • Strong systems experience including Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, Hyperion Financial Management and/or Essbase, Workiva

DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • CPA required
  • 8+ years experience required, preferably including public accounting
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls
  • Experience with SEC reporting guidelines.
  • Workiva experience a plus
  • Chart of Accounts / system implementation experience a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The team member frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The team member is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, repetitive use (or motion) of arms and hands, bend and stoop, and lift up to 10 pounds.
