Summary: 

The Sr Marketing Communications Specialist develops and executes marketing and communications plans as part of the communications department. This position serves NISC’s internal business unit clients comprised of sales staff, division, and department representatives, including management personnel, and the NISC executive staff. The Sr Marketing Communications Specialist will be responsible for participating in marketing strategic planning and developing and executing both internal and external communication programs that support brand positioning and drive the business objectives of assigned business unit clients, NISC and its Members. This position will assist in supporting key client relationships,as well as provide strategic counsel, including evaluating client needs, developing communications plans, making recommendations, and implementing plans.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and execute advanced communications plans including but not limited to social media strategies, executive presentations, internal newsletters, video scripts, speeches and marketing launch plans.
  • Write and edit content to ensure effective communication, persuasive impact, and clarity of message while adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Prepare and implement the development of external meeting scripts/continuity.
  • Assist in the development of national ad campaigns, including, but not limited to, creative briefs, ad copy and creative strategy.
  • Provide communications support for special events, including, but not limited to, marketing emails, web content, meeting collateral, social media, video scripts, press releases, blog and other written materials.
  • Establish and maintain key client relationships, as well as provide strategic counsel and make recommendations and implementing plans.
  • Identify working relationships with agencies/vendor to develop and execute marketing campaigns.
  • Provide support with Executive team to understand the intended audience and the importance of aligning communications with company culture.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong business relationships with internal departments and develop a plan for providing marketing and communication support for each of them.
  • Perform work duties outside of regular business hours, on an as needed basis, to meet internal and/or customer needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred:

  • 3+ years of related experience preferred.
  • Working level knowledge of communication and marketing plans best practices.
  • Working level knowledge of writing styles and editing skills.
  • Working level knowledge of Project Management processes and theory.
  • Moderate level knowledge of the Utility or Telecom industry.
  • Strong ability to multi task and time manage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and an ability to deal effectively with Member/Customers.
  • Excellent research and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Attention to Detail.
  • Working level knowledge of business-related software applications and services including, but not limited to, presentation software, photo design software, Microsoft Office Suite, social media scheduling/aggregation tools and graphic design software. 
  • Working level knowledge in photography and videography.
  • Strong on and off camera interview skills.
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Strong ability to interact in a positive manner with internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Stay abreast of innovative changes in communication and marketing plans to recommend relevant improvement to NISC.
  • Strong ability to maintain professionalism and ability to work in a stressful, fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong presentation and training skills.
  • Strong ability to demonstrate initiative & accountability.
  • Basic ability to effectively lead, influence, teach, and mentor others.
  • Ability to travel as often as necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the position.

Education Preferred:

Bachelor’s Degree in a business, communications, or marketing-related field or equivalent experience.
