Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

• Establish DFM, PFMEA, Tooling spec, Die Design, stamping process and Conditioning Standards and Rules, and conduct tool design.
• Manage projects to ensure timely debugging of new dies and processes to meet the first article qualification target so as to facilitate new program startup.
• Design and develop new stamping dies that can run at high efficiency, produce excellent product quality at reduced manufacturing cost
• Conduct die tooling design review with the Engineering, Operation and Quality engineering.
• Approval of First Article inspections and process capability.
• Provide technical advice to enhance future product design through die engineering evaluation. Conduct evaluations for DFM (design for manufacturability).
• Carry out cost reduction projects through redesigning of the existing die.
• Support die design software development and library creation
• Maintain a proper system and documentation in line with the tooling development requirements, under DND MPDE Execution Matrix.
• Work within a cross-functional team and participate in LEAN Product Development.
• Travel to suppliers/plants in order to support development/fine-tuning and or project release.
• Collaborate with global experts to update and continuously improve operational standards.
• Study or Introduce new technologies into process designs to maximize yield and efficiency.
• Attend regional trade shows and continuously benchmark against industry best practices.

What your background should look like:

• Degree or Diploma in mechanical / production engineering.

• Ability to use CAD/ NX /CAE software.

• More than 6 years Die design, Process and Troubleshooting knowledge /experience.

• Strong knowledge of tool fabrication, tool-steel application/selection, heat treating, and plating/coating.

• Strong knowledge of stamping processes.

• Strong understanding of metal material, press machine, auxiliary equipment.

• Understand tolerance calculations and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

• Good project management skill - Ability to work on several projects at once.

• Effective prepare and present Technical knowledge within a group setting.

• Willingness to travel (25% travel).

• Ability to effectively communicate in English - Written and Spoken.
