Job Description:
The primary role of this position is to provide engineering leadership and oversight for Design for Service projects globally in Commercial HVAC. In addition, this role will ensure on-time, on-spec, and on-budget delivery of retrofit kits and solutions to support the aftermarket growth. A successful global Design for Service engineering lead is expected to have solid communication and leadership skills. The lead works with resource managers and stakeholders to ensure the global resources are well coordinated, and the retrofit kits and solutions are well designed and delivered. Mechanical and electrical-related upgrades for the installed base are the primary focus initially.
The preferred candidate will have a solid understanding of commercial HVAC systems such as chillers and split systems, and prior experience in a team leadership role.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Provide overall global design for service ownership.
- Work closely with leaders and stakeholders in Service and Engineering in defining the strategy, solutions, priority, scopes, and schedules.
- Work closely with engineering leads and colleagues globally in leveraging knowledge, experience, and resources for speed-to-market solutions.
- Ensure on time, on spec, and on budget delivery of retrofit kits and solutions with solid planning and project execution.
- Ensuring that workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations.
- Developing corrective actions, solutions, and improvements to processes.
- Reviewing codes, specifications, and processes required to comply with regulations and customer needs.
- Manages clear, concise, and results-oriented communications with diverse stakeholders, employees, customers, and suppliers
Candidate Attributes:
- MS or Ph.D. in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
- 8 to 10 years of experience in a design center or a commercial production environment
- Team or project leadership experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- HVAC industry experience preferred
Position Level: Commensurate with background and experience
Location: Charlotte, NC, USA
Travel: Less than 15%
