Your team

Lead a direct development and implementation of efficient initiatives and strategies consistent with database operation priorities and business objectives. A Senior technical skilled database administrator with senior cloud expertise.

What you'll be doing

• Be an excellent problem-solver and communicator that is proficient in most data manipulation languages.
• Outstanding database administrator with extensive knowledge of the database technologies.
• Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the PROD/test/Training and QA application environments across multiple platforms.
• Responsible for leading a team of DBAs to be top performance on their daily support and projects activities to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
• Responsible for problem escalation to Oracle/Microsoft/AWS/Azure product support team and third parties as appropriate.
• Responsible for Co-ordination of Infrastructure issue and architect decisions
• Responsible for leading a team that setups and patch of databases like Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL and others.
• Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades.
• Responsible for implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the development team.
• Responsible for performing refreshes of data from production databases into test and development databases.
• Protecting the database platform against threats or unauthorized access.
• Up to date with trends and developments in the database platform

What you'll bring

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in Computer Science or a related field with systems experience preferred.
• 10+ years of system experience, including 3+ years on large enterprise applications, in developing and/or supporting applications to solve business problems and +3 years of leading experience with direct reports. Interact with senior management, negotiate, and manage conflict.
• Validated Senior Database Administration experience (10+ years)
• Demonstrable experience working in Cloud environments like AWS, Azure, Google Platform, OCI, or others.
• Experience on leading a team that delivers a high availability service in everything that they do.
• Demonstrable experience on the architecture of database solutions like AWS RDS, Azure SQL, OCI or others.
• Demonstrable experience on designing solution to handle and support of thousands of database instances via automation, simplification of activities and SLA ticket evaluations.
• Practical experience in supervising and tuning a database to provide a high availability service.
• Practical experience in performance tuning of databases as well as specific SQL statements
• Practical experience in on-call rotations and critical issues.
• Knowledge of real time data streaming products or tools (Oracle Golden gate, AWS DMS, etc.)
• Practical experience in analyzing infrastructure bottlenecks and infrastructure sizing
• Experience in security settings and gap identification
• Ability to write scripts to automate repetitive tasks and procedures. (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates, etc)
• Demonstrable experience on the management, support, and architecture of a highly regulated environments.
• Experience with database SOX audit is a plus.
• Experience in leading Oracle databases related to the Oracle JD Edward application is helpful.
• Experience in other DB platforms like PostgreSQL, MSSQL, MySQL is highly preferred.
• Experience working on team implementing COTS application with high number of concurrent users.

At least one of the following industry certifications is required:

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate
• AWS Certified Database Specialist
• Azure Administrator
• Azure Database Administrator Associate
• Oracle Certified Professional
• Oracle Cloud infrastructure
• Microsoft Certified Database Administrator
• Other Database certification specialist level (MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, other)

At least one of the following industry certifications is desired:

• AWS Professional level (Solutions Architect and/or DevOps)
• Azure Expert certification (Designing Infrastructure Solutions or other)
• Other expert or professional Cloud level certification

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $112,000 to $216,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and/or long-term incentive.
