About This Role

The Sr. Manager will report directly to the Associate Director, Operational Accounting and is part of the HVAC Segment Controllership team. This position will ensure a timely and accurate monthly financial close with an emphasis on freight and domestic US factories. The Sr. Manager will be a trusted transformational leader with direct reports and will come with development opportunities within Carrier's global organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ownership of end-to-end freight accounting including reserves across North American factories and distribution centers
• Transformational activities including but not limited to freight process and accounting oversight of domestic factories
• Standardization of factory close process including but not limited to journal entries, reconciliation, construction in progress, and excess and obsolete
• Support broad cost accounting process and direct oversight of specific manufacturing cost functions including but not limited to excess and obsolete, loading of standards, accounting for rebates and long term agreements
• Supervision and development of direct reports and mentorship across departments; initial team of 2 direct reports with another 2-3 as a fast follow
• Perform and control the month-end financial statement closing process including supporting team members throughout their duties and reviewing journal entries
• Review of month-end account reconciliations prepared by team members
• Support annual SOX initiatives and work closely with external and internal auditors
• Actively participate in cross-functional special projects as requested

Required Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in accounting with a Bachelor's Degree or 5+ years of experience in accounting with a Master's Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• CPA preferred
• Experience with SAP and HFM preferred
• Self-driven with prior supervisory experience
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Self-driven with the ability to work in a dynamic environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
• Exceptional customer service skills including follow-up and follow-through
