GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Senior Network Engineer analyzes, plans, implements, maintains, troubleshoots and enhances large complex systems or networks. These may consist of a combination that include virtual environments, desktops, public/private cloud networks, LANS, WANs, wireless, internet, intranet and the physical and logical components that integrate these systems together as an enterprise networking backbone.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with network team to design, implement, and administrate network infrastructure.
- Establishes networking environment by installing, configuring, testing and documenting the equipment/network systems according to the design and specifications.
- Leads the performance of day-to-day networking tasks to ensure network reliability, availability, and serviceability within minimal interruption.
- Provides technical support, responds to tickets from the users, analyzes and solves reported network problems.
- Leads in the configuration of firewall security policy configuration.
- Leads network technology upgrade or expansion projects, including installation of hardware, software, and integration testing, as well as coordinating these activities without disturbing function of other systems.
- Leads in the development and production of complex documentation for installation, network topology, and troubleshooting of communications hardware or software.
- Provides on-call networking technical support.
- Provides guidance and mentoring to Network Engineers.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; plus eight (8) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- In depth experience with Palo Alto, Aruba and Cisco systems
- Experience with AWS network infrastructure
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:
- Maintain professional level certifications in respective network technologies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Prior network engineer experience.
- Advanced knowledge of networking concepts to include BGP routing.
- Proven experience and success with cloud networking as well as on-prem LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.
- Attention to detail and excellent critical thinking, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
- Familiarity with network analysis tools including SolarWinds and packet capture.
- Initiative and innovation in improving work processes.
- Ability to work successfully with a team and handle pressure while meeting deadlines.
