Summary

The Senior Platform Engineer develops, implements, and maintains end-to-end cloud service offerings, enabled by appropriate cloud orchestration, integration, and automation solutions. The Senior Platform Engineer oversees security and compliance of the cloud system.

Essential Job Functions

• Responsible for managing design, prototyping, feature deployment, usability testing, and documentation, in alignment with platform architects and service owners.
• Develops, tests, deploys, and documents automation workflows (e.g. event/incident management, provisioning and deployment self-service, etc.) based on user experience inputs from cloud service owners and analysts/admins.
• Develops, customizes, tests, deploys, and documents orchestration solutions based on platform orchestration requirements identified by platform architects
• Provides Level 3 support to analysts in troubleshooting cloud integration and configuration requests, as well as, in-house and/or 3rd party tool-related incidents/events.
• Influences and educates users, including business app developers/architects, about cloud programming, configuration, and integration solutions.
• Coaches and guides the team on estimation, story break down, and backlog management for technical front-end related stories.
• Identifies opportunities to improve team velocity.
• Guides engineering teams and makes informed security decisions on the design of infrastructure, systems and applications.
• Works with other tech teams to ensure security is built into app development, network infrastructure, and cloud systems.
• Implements industry leading practices around cyber risks and Cloud security and performs security assessments of cloud platforms/environments using industry standard frameworks such as International Organization of Standards (ISO), Cloud Security Alliance - Cloud Security Matrix (CSA-CSM), and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Engineering (required)
• Masters, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Engineering (preferred)
• Doctorate, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Engineering (preferred)

Work Experience

5+ years' experience in security, Azure cloud engineering, or Azure architecture role (required)
