The Standard is looking for a senior product manager to be responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and ongoing management of annuity products to ensure consistent delivery of profitable offerings that are valued by customers. This role includes collaborating with key internal and external partners to lead the development and rollout of new and enhanced products based upon understanding of market trends, competitive landscape, and client needs. You will drive the proactive management of the health, client satisfaction and adoption of existing products.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing new products, refining existing products, and providing support to distribution and home office partners as SME for all annuity products. Collaborates with and influences stakeholders, vendors and senior leaders to ensure strategic alignment. Responsible for market analysis and understanding The Standard's position in the market for annuity products.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities for Assigned Suite of Products:

Strategic Product Development

  • Maintain a robust understanding of relevant client, market, competitive and regulatory trends, and their strategic implications for the IA business and product portfolio.
  • Develop and execute a forward-looking product roadmap that enables and supports the overall IA business strategy.
  • Lead cross functional product initiatives to drive new and enhance offerings, promote product positioning, support the sales and retention of annuity business, and ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Proactively manage and refine the annuity product offerings to reinforce the value proposition and drive revenue and profitability growth.
  • Drive Product Development process to ensure a thorough research and feasibility process. Partner with others to ensure successful implemental and rollout of new products.
  • Analyze business development opportunities and make recommendations to support business and product strategy.


Product Health Management:

  • Monitor existing products to ensure they are delivering value to customers while meeting target product adoption, business and financial goals.
  • In collaboration with functional partners, develop and execute effective product deployment plans, including product positioning and promotion, end-to-end customer experience definition, operational readiness and governance mechanisms and metrics.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with vendors who provide offerings that may enhance the success of the product portfolio.


Traits of a Successful Candidate:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree required. MBA preferred.
  • Experience: Ten (10) years of progressively more responsible product management positions within financial services, ideally with significant experience in the individual annuity business.
  • Strong track record of successfully developing and managing financial products to achieve sustainable increases in revenue and profitability.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to drive tangible results. Able to provide market vision and leadership to drive product development.
  • Ability to successfully blend strategic market leadership and product management skills with a line operating management foundation within a technology driven environment
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple priorities and deadlines while consistently delivering business results.
  • Highly effective communication, influence management and collaboration skills. Has the confidence, courage and ability to present ideas in a compelling manner but can also listen and engage in a productive dialogue to find "win/win" solutions.
