ABOUT THE POSITION

The eCommerce team develops new features and functionality for the Columbia Sportswear Company brand websites. This includes working with and becoming an expert in, the underlying platforms, our merchandising and marketing tools, and our product management functionality. All the technology in our ecosystem is focused on the consumer; they are at the center of everything we do. The eCommerce team is known for relentless improvement.

The eCommerce Technology team is looking for a Sr Quality Assurance Tester. They will have a strong understanding of the underlying platforms and how they interact. They will be able to work with limited guidance on ambiguous and complex issues. They will know how to use a variety of advanced testing tools and methods. They will be able to independently create automated test cases and work closely with our software engineers.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
  • Leads others in planning and executing test strategies. Contributes to the professional development of colleagues, improving testing knowledge and engineering practices.
  • Designs test strategies and applies effective solutions to test major portions of existing or new software. Works across boundaries to share requirements and acts as a key influencer of team strategy.
  • Designs testing strategies and test criteria based on deliverables to achieve optimal test coverage. Coordinates efforts of multiple teams as needed.
  • Solves difficult test problems by applying appropriate technologies and best practices. Proactively identifies and proposes solutions for deficiencies in test frameworks and tools.
  • Uses data from the test process, deployment, and production to measure software quality and provides actionable improvement recommendations. Exercises full understanding of how to use data to derive insight into software quality.
  • Works efficiently and effectively, leveraging proven test methods, redesigning, or implementing new methods when appropriate.
  • Delegates work into parallel tasks to be performed by other professionals and to reassemble work successfully into the final product. Works with the project team to establish quality standards or metrics and identify risks, writes complex test plans, and provides solutions that are inventive, easily maintained, scalable, and extensible.
  • Identifies and executes solutions that enable efficient regression testing. Exercises influence decisions made by other teams. Utilizes experience to identify and resolve problems that may have occurred previously.

YOU ARE
  • An advocate for QA techniques and philosophies, that will be integrated into other business unit areas to improve downstream QA testing.
  • Understands metrics and reports against them.
  • Capable of providing quality stop gates.
  • Advises technical and functional teams on release readiness of code for product and/or features tested.
  • A solid communicator.

YOU HAVE
  • Typically requires 5-8 years of professional experience and strong competency with the various tools, systems, or procedures required to accomplish the job.
  • Authors and executes complex test cases and suites as part of regular production release cadence
  • Strong experience with building regression and smoke testing suites
  • Strong written and communication skills with attention to detail
  • Strong familiarity with web technologies, browsers, operating systems, and mobile devices
  • Ability to review functional/technical specifications with a focus on testability and quality improvements
  • Experience aligning quality goals to business goals
  • Proven success working collaboratively within cross-functional and distributed teams based on strong team spirit, solid work ethic and good communication skills
