Job Summary
Freewheel's Engineering Productivity Team is responsible for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering processes. This involves identifying and addressing bottlenecks, implementing tools and technologies to automate and streamline tasks, developing and implementing best practices, providing training and support to engineers, and measuring and tracking engineering productivity metrics. We are looking to hire a Sr. Software Engineer to act as a key contributor to help grow the team's vision and improve productivity across engineering teams.Job Description
Core Responsibilities
- Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.
- Designs new software, supports applications under development and customizes current applications. Develops software update process for existing applications. Assists in the roll-out of software releases.
- Trains junior Software Development Engineers on internally developed software applications.
- Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures, and techniques
- Assists in tracking and evaluating performance metrics. Ensures team delivers software on time, to specification and within budget.
- Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.
- Displays expertise in process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences.
- Set up and maintain Kubernetes cluster environments.
- Perform CI/CD development using Jenkins, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Monitor software development operations using Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Datadog and Logstash or Fluentd.
- Research, write, and edit documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations and reports.
- Monitor and evaluate competitive applications and products.
- Review literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects; collaborate with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Need to be available to work on flexible hour.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Selected candidate will be expected to attend a monthly in-office meeting in either the NYC or Chicago offices
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
- 7+ years of experience as a Software engineer or DevOps Engineer or in a related role.
- 5+ years of Experience with CI/CD tools and practices, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI.
- Experience with DevOps principles and practices, such as infrastructure as code, automation, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD).
- Strong programming skills in a language such as Python or Bash.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in setting up and maintaining Kubernetes cluster environments.
- Proficient in cloud infrastructure and services such as AWS.

Bachelor's Degree
While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.

Salary:
Primary Location Pay Range: $135,980.37 - $203,970.56
Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
