Sr Software Engineer, Frontend

About the Role

The Tax Receipts team at Uber is seeking a skilled and experienced Frontend engineer to join our dynamic and innovative fintech engineering group. This team focuses on developing and enhancing Uber's financial technology services related to tax receipts. As an L5 backend engineer, you will play a key role in building scalable systems that manage tax calculations and receipt management, ensuring compliance and efficiency across Uber's global operations.

---- What You Will Do ----

Key Responsibilities:

1. Frontend Development:
2. Develop and maintain web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries (e.g., React).
3. Ensure high-performance and responsiveness of applications, focusing on a seamless user experience for tax-related functionalities.
4. Collaboration:
5. Work closely with backend engineers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
6. Collaborate with internal teams to build reusable code and libraries that can be used across various projects.
7. Quality Assurance:
8. Write and maintain unit and integration tests using tools such as Jest and Testing Library to ensure code quality and reliability.
9. Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers, promoting best practices in frontend development.
10. Technical Innovation:
11. Continuously improve the web development process by integrating new technologies and tools.
12. Implement responsive design principles to ensure applications work effectively across different devices and screen sizes.
13. User Experience Focus:
14. Work on enhancing the Mobile Invoices platform, ensuring that tax invoices are accessible and accurate, especially for international trips.
15. Develop self-serve tools that allow users to automate tasks such as invoice generation, crediting, and re-issuing.

---- What You Will Need ----

• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in frontend development, particularly in building large-scale web applications.
• Proficiency with JavaScript, React, and related technologies.
• Strong understanding of web development principles, including HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience with frontend development tools and libraries such as Webpack, Babel, and Redux.
• Knowledge of GraphQL and Apollo for managing data fetching and state in modern web applications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Experience in the fintech domain, particularly in tax or invoicing systems, is a plus.
