Sr Staff Accountant

BASIC PURPOSE: The primary purpose of the Senior Staff Accountant position is to analyze specific Company activities including royalties, leases, lottery, 3rd party receivables, US Census reporting and monthly close. The Senior Staff Accountant is also responsible for the completion and analysis of work papers and special projects as assigned.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Make independent decision and recommendations regarding journal entries, reconciliations and work paper analysis.
• Use discretion and independent judgment in developing enhancements to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
• Enhance efficiencies through independent analysis of auditing of control procedures.
• Identify and assess potential opportunities for improvement.
• Interact with other departments and operations.
• Other duties assigned as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

• Experience:
  • 3-5 years relevant work experience

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Skills:

• Hard Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office with strong emphasis on Excel
• Soft Skills: Strong oral and verbal communication skills; ability to perform and make decisions under pressure and strict deadlines; excellent time management skills; detail oriented; ability to multitask and be a team player
• Experience with SAP is a plus

Typical Physical Demands:

• Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
• Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
• Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
