Sr Staff Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sr Staff Accountant is responsible for overseeing aspects of the financial bookkeeping for Bass Pro Shops. This individual will reconcile accounts, finalize financial reports to discuss with management, resolve account discrepancies, and verify financial transactions. This individual must have excellent analytical skills and extensive knowledge of the accounting principles to perform accounting duties that will minimize the financial risk of the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Prepares journal entries and reconciliations related to notes payable, long term liabilities, accrued interest, prepaid insurances, intercompany accounts, other assets (current and non-current) and other accounts as assigned.
• Prepares expense allocations and related journal entries.
• Assists with month end and year end closings.
• Assist in preparation, review, analysis and distribution of financial reports.
• ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Degree Required: Accounting degree
• Experience: 5+ years high level accounting experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

• Must possess in depth understanding of financial statements and have the ability and experience to analyze the information presented.
• Must have strong PC skills, (Excel, Word and Access).
• Must be detail oriented, able to meet deadlines and have excellent communication skills.
• AS400 and Essbase (Hyperion) experience desired.

• Regularly performs computer work and sits.
• Occasionally walks and stands.
• Seldom/never lifts up to 50lbs.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

• Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
