Sr Staff Accountant

Summary

This position partners with the Senior Manager of Accounting to ensure accurate daily and monthly activities are being performed to complete Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) accounting requirements and meet reporting deadlines. This role works closely with other members of the accounting team, as well as other teams across the organization, on month-end analysis and contributes to reporting for Senior Management. You will also be responsible for the application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), company policies and procedures to a variety of accounting issues and transactions to analyze financial information, to ensure appropriate accounting application and provide accounting documentation.

Responsibilities

Manage various accounting functions that may include but are not limited to the following:

• Own the Sinch Voice accounting for Port Recovery Credits (PRCs), which requires collaboration with several teams including the Network Cost Team (NCT), Accounts Payable, Information Technology (IT), Product, and Customer Success.
• Own the Sinch Voice accounting for vendor disputes and newly installed circuits not yet billed via close collaboration with the NCT.
• Own and manage the COGS accrual aging schedule and provide associated updates to other teams as needed.
• Along with the Senior Manager of Accounting, be a main point of contact between the Accounting and Network Cost teams.
• Participate in daily, monthly, and quarterly accounting activities e.g., preparing and recording journal entries, account and product level variance analysis for both the balance sheet and income statement, reporting, and monthly account reconciliations.
• Collaborate with colleagues to secure information and resolve issues, including partnering with other groups in the organization as it relates to proper recording of accounting transactions.
• Participate in migration and implementation activities related to new ERP system conversion.
• Drive the implementation of new procedures as applicable to meet changing business demands.
• Ensure all COGS expenses, and associated balance sheet items are recorded in a timely and accurate manner, in accordance with IFRS.
• Provide requested accounting records and support to the external auditors.
• Provide backup coverage for areas within the revenue accounting team.
• Completion of ad-hoc requests as directed by management.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• Strong accounting and financial analysis skills
• Ability to develop creative solutions to both standard and complicated accounting procedures.
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, vlookup formulas, and manipulation of large amounts of data along with the abilities to automate those activities within Excel.
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
• At least five years of accounting experience, with three or more of those years being industry accounting experience; telecommunications experience a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including managing priorities to efficiently meet deadlines.
• Experience in accelerating the monthly close process.
• Experience in ERP system implementation preferred.
