Position Summary

As the Enterprise Automation Architect, you will work as part of our IT-centric Automation Product team which includes our Automation Center of Excellence and the centralized delivery team. Your main goal is aligning automation processes, tools, and strategies with business goals that will allow our organization to automate its processes. You will work with business leadership and IT departments to identify automation opportunities and lay the governance framework to enforce best practices, standardize compliance, and optimize automated processes. This role needs to be very familiar with technology as well as an understanding of workflow, industry, and business parameters.

This position will report to the Sr Director of Enterprise Architecture and will have the unique opportunity to define the positioning and functioning of our Automation CoE, as we build this new product and lay the foundation for Illumina's Automation journey.

Responsibilities

  • You will be a key member of the Automation Center of Excellence with responsibilities for performing assessment of automation opportunities for fit and determine the appropriate tools and designs using our automation platform, determining the type of delivery team for the solution, and have a deep working knowledge of the opportunity portfolio to support the Automation Product Manager with a 12-18 month rolling roadmap of prioritized opportunities
  • You will be responsible and collaborate with the Automation Product Manager, opportunity delivery teams, and platform operations teams to deliver the Automation Platform which consists of tools covering multiple capabilities such as RPA, Integration, Orchestration, Scheduling, Process Mining, NoCode (LoCode) along with the appropriate guardrails and guidance defined for a safe and secure environment
  • You will work with the technical operational management teams to provide a change/release/deployment operations process promoting an Automation DevSecOps approach
  • You will evangelize automation, provide guidance, and consult all technical delivery teams on how to add automation methods into the delivery of their business solutions for more efficient and effective processes, particularly the business "citizen developers"
  • Continuously partner with Information Governance, Security, and Compliance, to incorporate best practices to support SOX, FDA, IVDR regulations, and data privacy process like GDPR
  • You will be responsible to work with the automation tool platform teams to build security framework as well as reusable, shareable components as building blocks for automation

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience with development using automation tools and approaches that may include; UiPath, BluePrism, Snaplogic, Celonis, Quickbase, ServiceNow NoCode, Control-M scheduling, and others
  • Minimum 7 years of diverse roles and increasing technical leadership responsibilities across major projects and deliveries of automation processes
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with EAI/ETL/Batch Process/Scheduling software like platforms to choose the right platform for each process solution
  • Good knowledge of AWS, GCP, and Azure cloud platforms
  • Experience working with APIs, common web service authentication methods, building and securing API services and logging
  • Knowledge and working experience with Quality/Validated systems and processes for handling GDPR/PII/SOX type data a plus
  • Ability to focus on user experience to evaluate the value of opportunity delivery
  • Self-starter with superior problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills, and a track record of high performance and superior delivery
  • Demonstrated leadership including ability to identify key issues, motivate and empower others to address them in a way which builds morale, and generates ownership and commitment

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in related areas and/or equivalent
