Job Description

Brookfield Properties has an immediate need for a Senior Systems Engineer on-site at the corporate office in Chicago, IL.

Our infrastructure services continue to allow us to modernize and consolidate IT infrastructure, automate workloads, and pursue innovation. The ideal candidate will lead a team responsible for the strategy, design, implementation, development, maintenance, and performance of all infrastructure service on prem and cloud, to ensure the availability, security, and consistent performance of our environment. We identify trends, process improvements, automations, integrations, and new technologies that enhance experiences and provide new and innovative ways to deliver modern infrastructure services.

This position on the Infrastructure Engineering team offers a unique opportunity to lead architecting and engineering infrastructure services using Azure, Okta identity management, Office 365, and VMware. We supplement the exposure to these systems with official training via LinkedIn Learning and/or other traditional technical boot camps.

Requirements

  • Work in an environment that is 60% designing, supporting, and maintaining infrastructure services in a modern workplace, 30% project based work, and 10% training and development
  • Lead the execution of policies, initiatives, and standards that integrate systems, networks, servers (on-prem and cloud data center), database, and storage Work with cybersecurity team to monitor, investigate and remediate incidents as required.
  • Partner with the Cyber Security team to ensure security best practices are being adhered to with all architecture and support efforts
  • Provide estimates, analysis, and recommendations to secure approval of budget and resources to implement and/or support new infrastructure services
  • Leads the preparation and maintenance of the organization's disaster recovery and business continuity plans for IT systems and applications to ensure business risks are addressed within appropriate recovery timeframes
  • Establish relationships with individuals, teams, IT programs, to facilitate the identification of opportunities to using existing and emerging technologies to automate and streamline business processes, obtain feedback on operations and support, and act as a resource for all department road map initiatives
  • Research new products, emerging technologies, new releases of existing software/hardware through conferences, publications, seminars, and user groups to provide evaluations and recommendations
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams, programs, and development teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions
  • Train, mentor, and participate in the development of other infrastructure engineers
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other IT related field
  • 5 years of experience supporting LDAP, Microsoft Active Directory group policy, domains and trusts, sites and services, and AD Integrated DNS and DHCP
  • 3 years of experience with managing and deploying cloud solutions such as Azure, Amazon, or Google cloud
  • 3 years of experience with scripting and demonstrated ability to create scripts to automate repetitive tasks
  • 3 years of experience Office 365 messaging support in a hybrid configuration, spam filtering, mail flow and AD Connect
  • 3 years of experience managing and maintaining datacenter technologies - windows operating systems, VMWare, VSphere, ESX, storage, disaster recovery
  • 2 years of experience working with an Identity Provider (Okta, OneLogin, Sailpoint, etc.)
  • Action oriented and drives results
  • Proficient with managing complexity
  • Instills trust with technical aptitude to support IT goals
  • Strong focus on self-development and continuing to grow to be able to support emerging technologies and cloud infrastructure
