ABOUT THIS JOB

Nielsen’s Corporate Platforms organization is looking for a Vertex subject matter expert to support our Ariba , S/4 HANA and peripheral systems that are involved to create the current and future platform. In this role you will be a key contributor to translating requirements provided by stakeholders and providing tasks and guidance to the developers and support teams. This role will support business enhancements and strategic initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Expert in integrating Vertex tax software with SAP ERP systems and Ariba for accurate tax calculations and compliance.
• Proficient in configuring SAP and Ariba modules to work seamlessly with Vertex for tax purposes, including setup and maintenance of tax codes, rates, and rules.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations, and assist in generating accurate tax reports from SAP and Ariba systems.
• Project Management: Manage tax system implementation projects, including planning, execution, and coordination with different stakeholders.
• Develop custom solutions and enhancements in SAP and Ariba to meet specific tax-related requirements, leveraging Vertex capabilities.
• Conduct thorough testing and validation of tax calculations within SAP and Ariba environments to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Provide training and support to end-users on Vertex tax functionality within SAP and Ariba, ensuring effective utilization.
• Offer technical support and problem-solving for issues related to Vertex, SAP, and Ariba tax processes.
• Stay updated with changing tax laws and regulations, and ensure the Vertex system, SAP, and Ariba are updated accordingly.
• Work closely with finance, IT, and procurement teams to ensure tax processes are aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

• This role typically requires a blend of technical skills in Vertex, SAP, and Ariba, along with strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are also essential for a Vertex Tax Consultant. With your critical and strategic thinking abilities, you create opportunities to empower and enrich an essential part of our business. This role spans supporting Vertex related tax calculation and development work for around 50 countries we support and refining unlimited complex needs for our customers, who span multiple countries, jurisdictions, and many other fascinating complexities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with SAP S/4 HANA and Vertex integration is mandatory. Integration of Vertex with SAP Ariba is desirable.
• Minimum 2 life cycles projects from Blueprinting to Go-live. Multiple years of production support facilitating year end activities.
• 2- 5 years of hands-on experience with Vertex tools and a deep understanding of taxation rules across the globe especially in the USA.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical, problem solving and organizational skills applied in a constantly changing fast paced environment.
• Experience working with both offshore teams as well as third party vendors preferred.
