Where you'll work:
Our hybrid workplace model offers the freedom to work fully remote or occasionally in one of our offices. This is a remote position with a hybrid option for candidates based in Tampa, FL.

How you'll contribute:
As a Sr. Accountant in Reinsurance, you'll support Brighthouse Financial reinsurance subsidiaries accounting and reporting functions. Coordinates with team for successful completion of journal entries, reinsurance settlements and models, reconciliations, monthly close, analysis, supporting preparation of the financial statements and participation in unit projects to maintain and improve business continuity. Works with reporting requirements and guidelines of applicable regulatory agencies to maintain records and prepare required financial reports.

In this role, you'll get to:
  • Review/prepare monthly journal entries, reconciliations and monthly financial reporting
  • Review/prepare monthly reinsurance settlements and models
  • Reviews/completes monthly/quarterly reconciliations
  • Research variances and reviews monthly/quarterly analytics
  • Interaction and coordination with the lines of business, reinsurers, administrative areas and actuaries in carrying out assigned financial reporting responsibilities
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end regulatory reporting, financial statements and related information
  • Responsible for assigned process improvements, ongoing initiatives and projects and communication with management on progress of such items
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required


We're looking for people who have:
  • BS/BA in accounting or finance
  • 2+ years' experience in financial accounting and reporting
  • Insurance experience preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
  • Knowledge of statutory and GAAP accounting practices/procedures preferred
  • Highly proficient in Excel and must be able to learn other systems used quickly as the projects will require a lot of research and analysis

Compensation - Base salary ranging from $65,000-$75,000 plus competitive performance-based incentives determined by company and individual results
