The Sr. Accounting Associate ensures proper tax setup for new hires and current employees. This role also balances and reconciles accounting, tax withholding, and funding for all payroll cycles as well as perform other accounting on employee benefits such as personal insurance and 401k. The Sr. Associate maintains state unemployment rates and filings of state unemployment returns; manages the payment and filing of state and local payroll withholding; completes quarterly/annual balancing of Form 941, W-2's and payroll 1099's and responsible for the distribution on payroll W-2's; completes payment and filing of state withholding for policy holder disbursements for all enterprise companies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Balance and reconcile payroll accounting and taxation
  • Prepare, file, and pay, payroll tax withholding for state and local tax
  • Setup new hire taxation
  • 401k processing and preparation of employee personal insurance
  • Maintain state unemployment rates
  • File state and federal unemployment
  • Balance payroll Form 941.
  • Balance, process, and distribute payroll W-2s and 1099s
  • Prepare, pay, and file state withholding for policy holder state tax withholding
  • Backup other roles in accounting operations
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies as needed


REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma
  • 10+ years' experience in insurance and/or payroll accounting
  • Strong judgment and decision-making
  • Professional written and oral communication
  • Confident and articulate speaker and presenter
  • Forward thinking
  • Or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background


Salary Band: 04B

As a condition of employment, OneAmerica requires that all new hires who receive a job offer on or after April 18, 2022 provide evidence of full or partial vaccination against COVID-19 within three days of accepting an offer letter with OneAmerica and before employment begins. If applicable, new hires must submit proof that they have received the second dose of a two dose COVID-19 vaccine within 30 days after their first dose is complete. If a new hire wishes to submit a request to be exempt from the mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy due to a medical condition, sincerely held religious belief or other legal requirement, the associate will have three days after an offer of employment has been accepted to submit their exemption request for review and consideration by OneAmerica.

This selected candidate will be expected to work hybrid in Indianapolis, IN.The candidate will also be expected to physically return to the office in CA, WI, IN or ME as business needs dictate or for team-building and collaboration.
