Basic Function:
Responsible for the development of overall business and marketing and sales for assigned product(s) and/or services. Responsible for reviewing customer submitted specifications and determining appropriate technical responses. Provide product direction and vision based on market and customer requirements. This may include such functions as product design and technical definition, modification to equipment and technical support. Coordinates new product development, sales goals, marketing initiatives, pricing strategies, engineering coordination, product training and promotional programs, and ensures the execution of these programs.
- Must have thorough and relevant product knowledge.
- Boiler Industry experience in Firetube, Industrial Water Tube, Commercial Boilers and accessories preferred.
- Project management responsibility for developing and implementing global product strategy and market positioning for the designated product(s).
- Coordinate selection of products for development, product development work and research activities.
- Responsible for cost, features, performance, reliability, maintenance, margins, and manufacturability of developed products.
- Help establish and manage group operating budget and keep product development costs on each product's activities within the plan limits.
- Develop and administer a strategic plan including product(s) forecasts, marketing/promotion efforts, sales volume and profit forecasts.
- Analyze market trends and potentials. Recommend changes, improvements, or deletions in assigned product(s) and/or services, Seek new markets and products for continued growth and new business development.
- Experience in the setup, operation, and trouble shooting of boiler PLC control systems preferred.
- Maintain contacts with representatives and customers to follow up promotion efforts and to keep informed on their needs.
- Ability to develop and execute training programs on applicable products for representatives, employees, and customers.
- Continuously monitor competitive offerings, maintain knowledge of competitive features, and incorporate competitive features, as appropriate.
- Maintain communication with Customer Service and technical support groups to ensure that customers are satisfied with product performance.
- Maintain communication with the Aftermarket groups in developing parts kits and components to serve the Aftermarket channel.
- Supervise the market assessments, competitive evaluations, identification of customer needs and perceptions, management of product database, and preparation of sales and marketing materials and product training programs.
- Develop and document global design, safety, technical documents and performance standards.
- Develop, maintain and manage all pricing strategies for product lines.
- Position requires the constant and consistent exercise of intellect, judgment, and ability commensurate with executive, manager and professional positions in similar industries or situations.
- Maintain and enhance the working relationship with internal and external vendors.
- Handle responsibilities with effective interpersonal skills, to effectively interface with others inside and outside the Company as required.
- International experience and additional languages a plus.
- Establish and maintain an effective staff, evaluate employee performance, determine work force requirements and promote group training and technical competence.
- All other duties as assigned
Education Required: BA/BS degree, preferably in Engineering, Business or other relevant degree may suffice.
Experience Required: +7 years in a similar position involving the majority of tasks described under the duties section above. Knowledge of hydronic systems operation is required. Knowledge of steam and steam system operation is desirable. Experience working with engineering systems or construction services is a plus; competitor sales experience is a plus
Travel: +/- 25% domestic and international travel; tradeshows, visiting customers, visiting Sales Representatives, etc.
Jobs Supervised: May indirectly supervise Sales Engineers or other Sales Representatives.
Internal Contacts: Regular (40 - 50%) Regular contacts with Corporate and plant personnel, across all departments, mostly of a routine nature.
External Contacts: Regular (50-60%) Regular contacts with representatives, end users and related personnel, mostly of a routine nature.
Physical Skill & Effort: Limited manual dexterity required. Work requires infrequent physical effort. Ability to travel, generally by air and rental car, and handle routine luggage and display materials is required.
Working Conditions and Hazards: Normal plant, shop, field or office conditions. Negligible, little or no exposure to hazardous working conditions.
