Sr. Application Engineer/Middleware Developer

Minitab is looking for a high performing Application Engineer to be part of our Business Information Systems team. Our team members work with business leaders to develop solutions and deliver key results for the team and entire organization.

In this role, you will apply technical design, configuration, and coding skills across a wide range of sites and services, both on-prem and in the cloud. Demonstrated .net programming abilities as well as experience with Microsoft Azure Web, API and Integration services are highly desirable for this role. You will be a key contributor to all phases of the development lifecycle from concept through implementation and support.

The Role:

• Play a key role and provide technical expertise or domain knowledge in the development of high-quality business systems, integrations, and multi-system interoperability.
• Work independently and develop the ability to support technical leadership in the design, development and testing of new and existing business information systems and integrations.
• Provide technical leadership within a project team.
• Identify and fix complex bugs with limited supervision.
• Work with project managers to develop estimates and create backlog for development tasks.
• Actively participate in discussions about department coding standards and best practices. Help research new technologies, as needed, that drive innovation.
• Understand Minitab’s business rules, strategies, and goals and ensure alignment with our business systems and integrations in support of Minitab’s Global Business Objectives.

The Candidate:

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a closely related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Two (2) to (5) years of years related job experience in software or enterprise development required.
• Experience in time management regarding project completion and the ability to work on multiple projects.

The following are desirable:

• Working knowledge of the Microsoft .NET platform, C#, and integration technologies.
• Experience applying Coding Design Patterns.
• Familiarity with Messaging Patterns.
• Working knowledge of cloud platform technologies such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services with an emphasis on Web APIs, Web Apps and Messaging.
• Experience with Service Oriented Architecture, Restful Services, APIs and JSON.
• Experience with web development technologies such as HTML/CSS and JavaScript and knowledge of web frameworks like ASP.NET or React.
• Experience with source control systems such as Azure Dev Ops/Git.
• Experience using an agile development process.
• Ability to write and maintain unit tests and familiarity with testing frameworks like NUnit.
• Familiarity with enterprise business systems such as customer relationship management systems, enterprise resource planning systems, marketing automation platforms or ecommerce platforms.
