We are currently seeking a Senior Applications Scientist, Liquid Handling who will be responsible for supporting the Automation Business Unit through the development of advanced automated methods and support for complex Drug Discovery, Proteomics and Genomics workflows! The Senior Application Scientist will use scientific, automation, and programming expertise to perform chemistry characterization and demonstration which will include scoping, method development, optimization, and troubleshooting of the automated genomics applications. In addition, the Senior Application Scientist, Liquid Handling, will have an expert understanding of Biologics and Proteomic application workflows to actively support strategic marketing messaging through the generation, both direct and indirect, of scientific content to be utilized by various commercial organizations within Beckman Coulter Life Sciences.

This position will be located onsite at our Indianapolis, Indiana facility.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Use a deep understanding of customer needs to develop automated proteomic, drug discovery and genomics applications on automation platforms.
  • Design, write, demonstrate, and sustain automated methods on liquid handling instrumentation in support of critical initiatives set by the Liquid Handling Product Line product management team.
  • Develop research plans, design workflows and procedures.
  • Develop sales and marketing materials such as posters, presentations, training, and application notes to support commercial activities for automated genomic solutions.
  • Deliver automated methods and corresponding collateral on time and with regular cadence.

The required qualifications for the job include:

  • Life science training - Ph.D., Master's degree with 2+ years or Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of direct industry experience.
  • Expert knowledge in Proteomics, Biologics, and Molecular biology strongly preferred.
  • Experience programming and operating automated liquid handlers is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success designing and executing experimental plans.
  • Ability to establish and/or follow research procedures without direct supervision.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Attention to detail, specifically with automation proof of principle testing with accurate and timely supporting documentation.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent active listening and communication skills (verbal and written).

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
