New York Life's primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States. Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales. Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations.

Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers. The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women's markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.

In addition to training at the local level in our General Offices, we also provide national training via our New York Life University (NYLICU). The University is comprised of the latest blended learning content that combines in-person instruction, self-study e-learning courses, and live virtual classes taught by our National Development Faculty.

In addition to conducting our national virtual classes in English, we also provide in-language classes for our cultural market agents.

For this role, we seek an experienced and engaging candidate that has the energy and skill to conduct effective virtual training with our agents nationwide in both English and Mandarin. In addition to facilitation, the role will also involve work in refining course content and engaging with our Agency Managers regularly to collect feedback and provide individual support.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate group training sessions using Adobe Connect and Zoom for a wide array of training programs that could include Fundamental, Basic and Intermediate development training programs; Specialized Programs; Technology training; Product training
  • Partner with Development Managers, ZDO's (Zone Development Officers) internal business stakeholders and Agency teams to: Conduct individual/group training sessions with key Managers, collect feedback and ideas to continually refine our NYLICU content
  • Work closely with our Chinese Market Unit to provide additional in-language support in both group and individual training sessions with agents and managers
  • Develop and continually manage an integrated training calendar for key initiatives along within Agency Management
  • Conduct regular gap analysis of existing content, identifying sections that need a greater depth of material and removing outdated material. Develop content strategy to address identified gaps
  • Review and communicate analytics and key success metrics on an ongoing basis to stakeholders to help plan strategic and tactical actions to drive key metrics
  • Work closely with our content teams to provide feedback on course content, structure and flow

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Individual must be highly fluent in both Mandarin and English
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in learning and development - centered around developing and teaching content to adults (Experience in the financial services industry strongly preferred)
  • Experience training salespeople is a plus
  • Experience in facilitating large group sessions via Adobe Connect and/or Zoom
  • Understanding of the virtual learning landscape, especially as it pertains to the adult learning user experience
  • Passion for creating great training with actionable knowledge of the digital landscape, including current industry and user trends, emerging technologies, and standards
  • Must be a strong virtual training facilitator and be able to engage a sales team while also following a course structure
  • Must exhibit strong interpersonal communication (both oral and written), organization and planning skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Word)
  • Ability to scope, organize and execute multiple projects with interrelated goals
  • Must be comfortable with complicated technical and regulatory language
  • Ability to meet tight and frequent deadlines and multiple projects at once
  • Ability to adjust to changing workload and priorities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
  • Experience in Project Management is a plus

Salary range: $90,000-$135,000

Overtime eligible: Exempt
