Sr. Cloud Architect
Job Description
Planned Systems International (PSI), a Government Contractor, has an immediate opportunity available for a skilled, knowledgeable, and experienced a Sr. AWS and Azure Cloud Engineer to support a Department of State contract, the Protected Health Information Management Services (PHIMS) contract in Washington, DC. The candidate should have significant experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS) deployment and support and have some experience working with Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will also have experience with Microsoft Azure as well and will work with integrated team to design, deploy, and maintain a COTS EHR implementation that span multiple cloud platforms.
Functional Responsibilities:
• Reviews business drivers and strategies, understands the implications to applications and interfaces, and identifies/mitigates risks to solutions;
• Consults with project teams to fit projects to enterprise architecture;
• Validates information systems and/or operational architectures meet technical requirements and specifications;.
• Leads the development and execution of a communication and education plan for the IT solution architecture; responsible for the overall training and development of the solution architect team;
• Advises on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology priorities;
• Collaborates with other IT teams in the management of technical change, verification of testing results, and monitoring of technical standards compliance and deployment;
• Develops methods to integrate systems that interact and extend across organizational and functional lines;
• Participates in IT system strategy development, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases and business innovation portfolio development;
• Analyzes, designs, and develops roadmaps and implementation plans based upon a current versus future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint;
• Develops and documents policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures;
• Identifies and proposes variances to the architecture to accommodate project needs; collaborates with Enterprise Architecture to find alternate solutions when necessary;
• Performs ongoing architecture quality review activities relative to specific portfolio;
• Reviews key customer issues with technology and service managers to identify potential solutions or improvements that are relevant to the solution architecture;
• Identifies the tools and components within the area of specialization based on the enterprise toolset and can define exceptions as warranted
• Clearance: Secret Clearance
Requirement:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, System Analysis or a related field, and ten (10) years of IT and business/industry work experience including architecture design and deployment, systems life cycle management, and infrastructure planning and operations.
• Expertise working on large-scale multi-cloud projects in support of federal customers
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including VPC, EC2, S3, RDS, WAF, Cloudwatch, and AWS Systems Manager
• Hands-on experience with Azure services including Azure VM, AzureSQL, Scale Sets, and Azure Service Fabric
• Experience developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) such as Terraform and/or CloudFormation
• At least one of the following cloud certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect
• PowerShell scripting experience is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal skills and exhibit excellent customer service skills.
• Must be able to work in Washington, DC
