Sr. Data Engineer (#Hybrid at our Chicago HQ near O'Hare Airport)
Job Description
In this role, you will assist the organization through the continued build-up and operationalization of an enterprise-class modern data environment, including various components within the data system and data warehouse technology stack. Collaborate with other teams such as data center and systems engineering on setup, software installation, testing, monitoring, tuning/optimizing, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Coordinate, design, build, and integrate complex application technology solutions, aligned to architectural standards and definitions, and ensure IT services are delivered effectively and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Influence the adoption of modern data new concepts, practices, and approaches.
- Build the infrastructure as code required for the data platform.
- Responsible for extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources.
- Develop databases, objects, functions and structures for data storage, retrieval, and reporting.
- Design and develop Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) solutions to populate the data warehouse. Maintain and test the data warehouse in compliance with the company's standard guidelines.
- Develop automated and reusable routines for extracting requested information from database systems and/or enterprise management systems.
- Define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software applications and back-end interfaces in support of business objectives.
- Build reports and analytic prototypes based on initial business requirements. Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metric.
- Collaborate with other teams such as development and strategy on component and 3rd party tool identification, recommendation, installation and management of Azure services. Collaborate with internal teams in technical investigations, development, and prototypes.
- Promote quality practices by performing unit testing and providing the appropriate level of support for user acceptance testing.
- Act as a support resource for the technical support that platform-reported issues are being addressed in an efficient and accurate manner. Serve as a liaison with database administrators, developers, and vendors to assist in resolving problems with systems.
- Participate in the design and implementation of a Disaster Recovery strategy for Modern Data components and management of alignment activities with pertinent audit and compliance activities.
- Provide input/develop new processes/standards in support of the organization's business/functional short-term strategies, with limited impact on the business/function overall results.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support data infrastructure needs.
- Manage current data warehouse backlog and support data warehouse enhancements. Manage Tableau and BO development needs from data engineering requirements.

Education:
- Bachelors Degree - Computer Science or related - Minimum
Years of Experience:
- 3 years - Data Development or related - Minimum
- 3 years - Azure Data Development or related - Preferred
In Leiu of Education:
- 6 years - Azure Data Development or related
