Job Description

Mercari is Your Marketplace. We make it super easy to sell (or buy) almost anything. We all have things we don’t use, never used or simply outgrew. But that stuff still has value. Mercari gives you the power to simply sell it, ship it, and earn some cash for it. Fashion to toys. Sporting goods to electronics. All the brands you know and love. Our mission is simple: to make selling easier than buying. And with 50M+ downloads in the U.S. and 350k+ new listings every day, we're just getting started.

But we can’t achieve this mission without best-in-class design experiences, which is why we’re searching for a Senior UX Designer to join our team and to help shape our vision.

As a Senior UX Designer at Mercari, you’ll facilitate the ideation and execution of elegant product interfaces to scale the Mercari experience across App and Web. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will leverage your passion for technology and depth of experience to solve Mercari’s business challenges through user-centric design. This is a truly unique opportunity to help define and shape the look and feel of a brand that’s quickly growing in the U.S.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Facilitate the ideation of product development along the whole customer journey using your toolbox of workshopping & collaboration methodologies
  • Manage end-to-end design across web and app, contributing both in early ideation and in delivering pixel-perfect designs
  • Collaborate with product managers, product marketing managers, brand and creative and engineering to roll out new features
  • Support development teams throughout the implementation cycle
  • Opportunity to help the UX team build its voice, culture & practice within the company
  • Close partnerships with UXR and UXC team members to drive user-focused work

Who you are:

  • Conceptual thinker with an ability to understand customer needs, motivations and behaviors and translate them into beautiful design
  • Natural leader with a strong point of view, excellent design skills, and a passion for product design
  • Collaborative worker with a proven track record of partnering with cross-functional teams to solve short- and long-term product challenges
  • Detail-oriented designer who always aims to deliver pixel-perfect designs

What you’ll need:

  • 5+  years of professional web, app, and digital design experience
  • Excellent proficiency in
    • Vector based design software (ex: Figma or Sketch)
    • Collaborative diagramming
  • A BA, MA or MS in HCI degree, or equivalent practical experience

Why Mercari:

Small enough to make an impact, but established enough to provide the stability you need to be successful, Mercari is the best of both worlds. At Mercari you are encouraged to take risks. And when you do, you can do it confidently, knowing you have a team and a company that supports you.

As we grow, your career opportunities with Mercari grow. As our teams expand, your responsibilities expand. Our teams are supported with access to new tools, technologies, and learning opportunities.  We will never stop growing.

Total Rewards:

  • Flexibility: Work remote from anywhere in the US and receive flexible time off
  • Wellbeing: Top-notch insurance plans, best-in-class new parent offerings and access to mind and body wellness apps
  • Growth: As we grow, your career opportunities grow, we provide access to new tools, technologies and learning opportunities
  • Comprehensive and total rewards: We provide a strong financial foundation and rewards that go beyond the paycheck
  • Teamwork: We are each other's biggest fans- we celebrate from virtual coffee breaks to recognition programs

Additional Information (Colorado only*) Minimum salary of $68,200 + equity + benefits. Information about our benefits can be found here: https://www.mercari.com/careers/ *Note: Disclosure as required by sb19-085 (8-5-20) of the minimum salary compensation for this role when being hired into a location in Colorado.
