The Development Operations (DevOps) Engineer position works with the digital application development teams and software architects to deploy, automate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve systems that keep the backend infrastructure running efficiently and effectively. This position requires in-depth hands on technical experience in an innovative digital environment and a 'can-do' approach towards complex environment automation, management, and continuous improvement.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
Independently designs, deploys, and maintains end-to-end CI/CD and DevOps processes using automated tools across VM and container ecosystem (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.) on private and public cloud platforms.
Manages and standardizes CI/CD setup procedures for monitoring deployment process performance, testing, error handling, reporting, archiving, and optimization.
Defines and enforces established branch management process on source control system and recommends improvements.
Builds and deploys applications using technologies such as Docker, Jenkins, Git, Bamboo Bit Bucket, and Maven.
Creates deployment plans for various platforms including deployment of releases to the production environment and help the project teams troubleshoot any issues.
Liaisons with technology teams to troubleshoot complex issues in development, testing, and staging environments to help scrum teams remove impediments.
Develops and monitors application alarms in production systems and troubleshoot across platforms and application / system domains.
Works with infrastructure, development, and architecture areas to recommend architecture and process improvements based on fact-based data.
Evaluates new technology options to help modernize the current environments, and reviews vendor products for fit within the current and future CNA environment(s).
Mentors and guides less experienced associates.
Reporting Relationship
Typically reports to Director or above.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
1. In-depth understanding and experience of modern development platforms and architectures and provides technical input to influence IT and Digital Platform teams.
2. Working knowledge of the SDLC and Agile methods, such as SCRUM and XP.
3. Detailed knowledge of implementation and maintenance of high availability and highly scalable systems.
4. Strong experience and knowledge of build-release engineering and with continuous integration (CI) tools (e.g. Jenkins, etc.)
5. Technical knowledge of industry best practices and IT operations in a high availability environment.
6. Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
7. Strong organization skills and documentation capability.
8. Solid deployment and release management experience in heterogeneous environments, using configuration management tools.
9. Strong experience with containerization / Micro services-Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, etc.
10. Good ability to follow the industry and quickly learn new and rapidly changing technology.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.2. Minimum 7 years of DevOps experience in an enterprise environment.3. Applicable certifications preferred.
