The Sr Digital Technical Learning specialist will be a critical enabler and change influencer as Johnson Controls pursues this mission.
Your challenge will be to influence, develop and deliver digital technical learning curriculum to transform Johnson Controls from an industrial company to a digital industrial company. You will be the go-to digital technical expert, influence digital technical learning deliverables by partnering with learning designers to coach frontline technicians on digital SaaS solutions. You will leverage your technical building systems knowledge and experience to connect the digital SaaS solutions for your learners. Working closely with key stakeholders, the Sr Digital Technical Learning specialist will stay up to speed with evolving software solutions, partner with designers, collaborate on development, and deliver training. You will also evaluate training effectiveness and drive continuous improvement for upskilling our field employees. How Will You Accomplish This?
- Collaborate and partner with software digital engineering, go-to-market business development, professional services, and customer success teams to stay up to speed with the evolving digital software solutions
- Act as an internal consultant to combine multiple perspectives into holistic solutions that maximize impact to the business.
- Represent learning and development in technical solution updates and pilot testing to gain knowledge and experience in new tools, platform updates etc. to influence digital learning strategy
- Use strong project management skills in developing outcomes that positively impact the business.
- Build and monitor digital technical training programs for frontline installation and service roles within the field service business.
- Provide digital technical consulting inputs and review to overall digital learning design and development (pathways, videos, classes, WalkMe etc.) portfolio.
- Building systems, BAS, or digital software solutions for buildings - installation, implementation field experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrate impact to digital-led business results through learning KPI's. Report results as part of our ability to show financial impact to the business.
Digital L&D Instructor responsibilities:
- Lead the technical inputs to design digital technical classes and curriculum
- Develop technical application exercises as part of the digital technical curriculum programs
- Lead the update and continuous development of digital technical learning curriculum and learning journeys
- Lead the setup, use and maintenance of digital training environment setups including collaborating with engineering teams, digital professional services teams among many other teams
- Deliver digital technical classes to JCI employees for frontline technicians (install and service)
- Evaluate existing programs for effectiveness, and redesign solutions when necessary; leverage a variety of measurement and evaluation techniques to obtain and use data to drive your learning curriculum impact
- Hold learner interviews, focus groups, needs analyses, and develop personas to identify and address learning needs.
Learning and Development Team Member
- Collaborate with and support a strong global team environment.
- Leverage innovative learning technologies and platforms to deploy learning, including the Johnson Controls Learning Hub (LXP), LMS (Learning Management System), and uLearn (video streaming service).
- Maintain current knowledge of trends and issues in learning design, training, and technical field operations acting as a thought leader and finding ways to iterate on your solutions.
- Work very closely with team members who will develop your designs. Need your ability to flex on time, as we have a global team.
What Are We Looking For?
- Technical- JCI's portfolio of products is complex, so we need someone who is quick to grasp how building environments are created and business lines organized. Don't worry, we'll help you with that! Can quickly learn different platforms like Learning Experience Platform, and various learning management systems.
- Educated - Holds a bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Adult Learning, Engineering, or equivalent technical / practical experience in the digital engineering field.

- Field Experience - 6+ years of technical field installations or Field Turnover training experience. Implementation of Buildings Systems and software solutions preferred.
