Sr. Director, Business Development & Partnerships

Forbes is looking for a highly experienced and entrepreneurial business development, partnerships, and sales leader. Your primary responsibility will be to create and accelerate advertising and sponsorship revenue around newsletters. Our newsletters reach a highly valuable and rapidly growing 3mm+ base across multiple newsletters.
This position entails two key roles: (1) Serve as the subject matter expert (or SME) for newsletters which includes building the newsletter advertising and sponsorship product, including go to market strategies and partnering with the sales operations team to price and package newsletter products and (2) in addition to supporting the existing sellers closing newsletters sales, open new accounts and generate new brand partnerships for newsletter product.
We are looking for an experienced ad product and business development leader who is a team player and has proven record of productizing and monetizing newsletters, as well as meeting and exceeding annual revenue goals.
What You’ll Do:
- Build a robust ad and sponsorship newsletter product and business plan
- Serve as subject matter expert on newsletter ad products.
- Identify new advertising and sponsorship product opportunities, and work with edit, product and technology teams to create and innovate on new products.
- Serve on the front lines of new account development with nontraditional partners & new product development to secure new revenues.
- Partner with the broader sales team to ensure that newsletter pitches are integrated in relevant RFPs and relevant client conversations.
- Develop new target account lists as well as build, maintain and nurture relationships with clients interested in Forbes’ newsletter product portfolio.
- Effectively manage and communicate goals, revenue and strategy for newsletters with the integrated media team for a unified sales force with clarity and transparency
- Travel to and represent Forbes in relevant industry conference
What You’ll Bring:
- 5-7+ years of experience in ad product, business development and/or partnerships role focused on driving advertising revenue via newsletters
- Proven experience in the newsletter and digital media publishing industry
- Excellent strategy and execution expertise.
- Track record in packaging newsletter products and driving new revenues
- Ability to think strategically, gain input and buy-in from stakeholders, and follow through
- Established industry relationship with advertisers and brands is plus
The annual base salary range for this role is $160,000 - $175,000
Forbes has estimated the compensation range set forth above in good faith. The compensation range is what we believe we will offer, and ultimately pay, a successful candidate. In determining this range, we consider the experience, level of education (if applicable to the role), knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be had by a successful candidate as well as the budget and the company’s pay rates, generally.
