Job Description

Company Overview:

Cohere Health is illuminating healthcare for patients, their doctors, and all those who are important in a patient’s healthcare experience.  Founded in August 2019, we are obsessed with eliminating wasteful friction in areas that have nothing to do with health and treatment, particularly for diagnoses that require expensive procedures or medications.  We build software designed to ensure the appropriate plan of care is understood and expeditiously approved, so that patients and doctors can focus on health, rather than payment or administrative hassles.

We deploy a multi-dimensional engagement model that utilizes Cohere Care Paths to ensure provider decisions are aligned with standards of care and drive optimal outcomes for every patient.  We also incorporate proven interventions to unlock further improvements in experience and quality and achieve our clients’ value objectives.

Opportunity Overview:

The Clinical Transformation team is responsible for developing and scaling innovative new offerings that utilize data and technology to shift prior authorization from a transactional experience to one that drives personalized care for patients and value for those who care for them.  Reporting to the SVP, Clinical Transformation, the Sr. Director, Clinical Strategy, is responsible for developing the strategy and go-to-market plan for new clinical programs to be added to Cohere’s current portfolio.  Using market, competitive, and regulatory signals, coupled with business strategy, financial analysis, and deep understanding of Cohere’s product and technical capabilities, this leader will shape the future roadmap of clinical offerings for the company.  The work will be fast-paced with evolving needs, requiring flexibility, emotional intelligence, curiosity, and grace under pressure.

Last but not least: People who succeed here are empathetic teammates who are candid, kind, caring, and embody our core values and principles. We believe that diverse, inclusive teams make the most impactful work. Cohere is deeply invested in ensuring that we have a supportive, growth-oriented environment that works for everyone.

What you will do:

  • Deeply understand the needs of health plans, risk-bearing providers, clinicians, and patients
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive assessment of market, competitive, and regulatory headwinds and tailwinds
  • Assess the desirability, feasibility, and viability of Cohere investing in developing programs in new clinical specialties
  • Devise and execute a strategy and go-to-market plan for new clinical specialties, and gain executive buy-in for business cases
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical, Clinical Analytics, Product, Operations, Finance, Policy, Growth, and other teams
  • Coach and develop direct reports

Your background & requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required (Preferred: MBA or an advanced degree in healthcare-related discipline)
  • 15+ years experience in the areas of digital health, population health, strategy consulting, clinical strategy, and/or provider or payer leadership
  • Proven track record of developing and executing strategies that address critical needs of payers, providers and patients while meeting business objectives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in developing and delivering presentations to executive audiences and ability to tailor communication style to different audiences
  • Strong ability to initiate and maintain cross-functional relationships to deliver
  • Flexible and agile, comfortable with the ambiguity of an early stage startup, skilled working in remote environments, and self-directed
  • Strong understanding of the Medicare and commercial insurance industry, including value-based risk models

We can't wait to learn more about you and meet you at Cohere Health!
