Summary/Overview:

KBRA (Kroll Bond Rating Agency) is seeking an experienced Senior Director / Director to join our rapidly expanding global Insurance Credit Ratings team in the New York office.  This motivated, curious, and collaborative individual will support all aspects of the credit rating process for Insurers and Reinsurers located within the U.S., as well as in other regions of the world including Bermuda and Europe.  As a member of the analytical team you will be involved in all aspects of the ratings process as you perform high profile and challenging work in conjunction with our senior staff and external stakeholders. This role involves a variety of analytical tasks and will cover a wide range of insurance organizations.  Position is primarily focused in the Property & Casualty (P&C) and Reinsurance sectors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support development of recommendations for new and existing financial strength and credit ratings for insurers as well as various debt securities.
  • Responsible for detailed analysis of financial statements, risk management frameworks, and business plans of rated entities.
  • Create competitor and peer group benchmarks.
  • Draft rating and research reports on specific companies, sectors and key industry topics for publication
  • Present work product at credit committees and lead external management meetings.

Successful candidates will possess the following:

  • Eight (8) or more years of experience as a financial analyst, buyside, banking, rating agency, management reporting, or regulatory role; credit risk training/experience as well as strong background in insurance accounting is expected.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills; knowledge of Bloomberg a plus
  • Ability to work as part of a team and across disciplines in a challenging and dynamic environment.
  • Strong interest and/or relevant experience in Ratings and/or the Insurance industry
  • Bachelor’s / Masters degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Math, Political Science, History, or related business/liberal arts fields is required.
  • Professional designations (CFA, Actuarial, MBA, CPCU, FRM) are preferred.

Salary Range:

The anticipated annual base salary range for this full-time position is $140,000 to $210,000. Offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience, skills, geography, and other job-related factors.
